I remember the new models always showed up on the dealership floor in September of the prior year, so an August build date would fit that scenario.
September 23, 1969 to be exact. I ran across this info recently.....

And... that would be? Not all of us speak code; I know I don't. DR8 is???DR8 originally, now red.
But he said it's now red. ???

@Snotty -- R stands for "Red", the number thereafter stands for how dark the shade is from 1 to 9.Lotsa shades of red
Yes you have, but the reality still exists: I don't know what those codes are. I would believe I am not alone.Dark Red Poly. Aka burgundy metallic. I have answered similar questions from you in the past
But, what about my original color, EA4? Platinum Metallic/Silver. Those letters are not going to lead to those colors at all.@Snotty -- R stands for "Red", the number thereafter stands for how dark the shade is from 1 to 9.
ER6 is the color in my avatar (aka "Scorch Red" in Chrysler/Plymouth literature). The "E" in "ER6" stands for the first year when the color was introduced, 1969 in my case.
To confuse things, the first letter does not start showing up till 1970. So @Don Stolfi 's 1969 R6 Polara 'vert is painted the exact same shade as my ER6 1970 ER6 Polara 'vert.
To confuse things further, E also stands for Red -- with FE5 very, very close to my eyes (hard to tell in photos) to ER6. In the same vein, GE7 (a color introduced in 1971, as per the "G" in the code) looks quite close to DR8 (a 1968 color).

(And for those who might be thinking, "Thought he said he doesn't read code?," I don't, but I do have a picture of the fender tag.)
Wow, I never realized that., the number thereafter stands for how dark the shade is from 1 to 9
