Lets Play A Game: Last Of The Convertibles

Thank you so much! It’s so hard to decipher!

Yes, that looks like a T-VON. What does it stand for again?

I go with M85 as this indicates front and rear bumper guards and the rear bumper actually has the horizontal rubber strips. L35, on the other hand would indicate cornering lights, which the car does not have.

As for the Y-code I’d say it’s Y05 “Built to Specifications for USA Order”.

M85 would be coded, then V01, then V5* then Y05 would be typical and expected then 26 to go with the H51.

T VON typically means a lease car.

A01 Light Package contains the L31 cornering lamps.
L31 is indeed corning lamps for top of fenders
L35 cornering lamps compared to M85 front/rear bumper guards

Perhaps the broadcast sheet could explain more.

I think you are referring to L31 fender mounted turn signal indicators (which are actually located in the hood bulges on 1970 Furys, if so ordered). This car has them, which makes sense, because the A01 light package is coded on the fender tag. As you correctly stated, A01 light package includes L31 fender mounted turn signals.

Cornering lights are clear lights on the side of the fender that constantly light up as long as the turn signal on that side is activated. They are supposed to illuminate a small patch of the road to the front and side of the car for safely pulling into a dark driveway at night, etc.

Per the brochure, real cornering lights were not available as an option (or as part of a package) on 1970 Furys. The only gadgetry in that respect were the backlit "Sport Fury" side marker lights that can be seen here and which came standard on 1970 Sport Furys (and which are not present on this Fury III convertible).

Thanks to @commando1 we have the fender tag of CM27T0C124352 -- an FY4 300 'vert that has been repainted in green. The SBD was September 18, 1969. This car is loaded with options. It is currently for sale in Florida, as discussed in this thread.

PS: I have updated my list of 106 known T-code 300 'verts with this information.
