Looking for a good floor jack

Factory guys like those better than 6.4s ... the redneck hotrods want the 7.3s
Everything I read said the 6.0 was best left stock unless you wanted to replace the headbolts with studs. That and changing the oil and filter with the genuine Ford stuff was the way to go.

You got a good one then, I had a 04 250 with the 6.0 and 60k on it. Bad EGR (delete kit) bad injectors (not cheap) bad head bolts and head gaskets. Pull the cab to do any real work on it. Had to have dual fuel filter set up. When it did run it ran great with gobs of power until it lost compression in one hole. I sold it off with 69k on it. Diesels are made for pulling, for me a 7.3 or 12 valve dodge is a better choice.

Everyone says don't play with it just use it... the oil filter... stay ford... bad things from all I hear with aftermarket filters... I don't get to work on any of them to say first hand.

Lots of stuff I cant confirm with the 6.0 engines... talked to a service manager not long ago who was having issues with some 6.7s but the consensus likes them a lot. Unfortunately they wont be getting very cheap too soon. I hear fans from the gm camp too... but IDK anything about them...

I have looked for one of these lot of yahoos have gotten ahold of them and f..ed them up
Yea, I was over at the Ford dealership the other day and the GM came out and told me he had people calling him every week for a diesel Excursion.

Are diesels expensive? You bet your ***....In 2012, when I bought mine, the Cummins was a 9K option but if you got the Cummins you had to upgrade to the 68RE Trans which was another 1K so the diesel was a 10K option....ouch..... Having said that, if reasonable care is taken, it should easily run over 300K miles and most likely more. I sold my 98 1500 with a 5.9L gas because the bottom of the drivers door and the bed sides were starting to rot. I couldn't justify replacing body panels on a gas engine with 200K miles on it. It still ran perfect, had plenty of power and never burned oil but it just didn't seem to make sense to risk it. I had the truck 14 years. With the Cummins, I wouldn't blink an eye about changing body panels at 200K so unless I total this one and survive, I don't believe I will ever buy another truck. Again, I use my trucks as trucks. This includes hauling and towing rather regularly but I also take very good care of my vehicles including all maintenance and fixing anything that is broke as soon as it breaks and washing once a week with undercarriage spray. That will start another debate I'm sure about weather frequent washing is necessary but it works for me.

I'm done with diesels. After the 12 valve CTD was gone, then the Ford/Int 7.3 went away, I tried the fine (sarcasm) 6.0 Ford.
My current 8.1 gas 3500 HD has over 300k on it, original trans and motor.I use synthetic oil, the engine has used a qt if oil every 3k miles since new. It's up to a qt every 2k miles now as it has a slight wet area around the rear main. I get 10-13 mpg driving normally.
The price of diesel, along with the additional cost upfront, makes me happy with the gasser.
If you were working a truck pulling really heavy loads, then yea, the diesel shines.
I run loaded maybe 20% of the time, and then, maybe towing 3-6k lbs. 450lbs of torque is plenty.
Here is my odometer today.

You will be happy with the hein-warner jack, we have 3 of the 3ton jacks at work and love them but they are not cheap. As for the diesel topic they hold between 10 to 15 qts of oil, the oil filters are usually twice the price of the gas engine, the duramax wants a fuel filter about every 10,000, if they break the parts are more money, but if you tow a lot they are worth it. I just don't tow enough or drive my truck far enough to make it worth it. But I would love the power of one. A friend has a 6.4 ford that he uses for work and did some upgrades and it makes some insane power
