Old Man with a Hat
I'm not sure how I missed this thread. What a great car!!!!!! Beautiful.
Good news: The V1Y top has arrived, and it looks like it will work. Good, all in all "just" 2.5 months including the holiday period and despite Covid!
There sure is no excess of material at the front, but @71Polara383 thinks that it will be fine once it's smoothed out and glued down. He sent me the photos below, and he says that the seams are perfect matches for the originals.
@73Coupe -- thanks a million again for your help in this process, including sharing your diagrams.

There should be enough material. They surely didn't provide excess material.Wow. Make sure that it's long enough and that there's definitely enough material to pull it with beyond the roof!
It will be painted prior to installation. Less then ideal temperatures in my workspace to attempt using filler/painting during the winter months has held this project hostage. Hoping to get a warmer day here in the next few weeks to get that done.Did you decide to go the extra mile and paint the top prior to the vinyl install?
Can't wait to see this on and the trim in place - I keep my eyes on this one, such a great looking car!
Buttercup is (temporarily) sporting a new look. @71Polara383 shared those photos with me today.
Her top has been primed and painted, she is now ready for her new SMS V1Y top. I thought I'd post those photos, so that everyone can see what the car would look like with a white painted top.
PS: she got a full tune-up this Sunday, too: plugs - cap & rotor (Accel 8020) - oil change (PennGrade 15W40) - trans mount (Prothane) - trans filter/fluid/gasket - Exhaust leak fixed (Remflex 6006).

The lighting and my screen make the paint look like Y2 Sunfire Yellow in those photos!
No air shocks. Must be the angle I took the pictures from. How come the latest photos show the rear end jacked up and the former (lighter) ones do not? Were air shocks installed or spring assist shocks? Where are the center caps??? That tail pipe has to go............
Beautiful car, especially with a gold boar grain vinyl top on it coming.....................
The tail pipes gotta go. I agree.
