MOPAR NOS 1970-71 Fury Chrysler 300 Polara 1971 Imperial washer bottle, 3431154

This one has been for sale a number of times at the same price. I'm glad I have mine.

Cancritter hasn't bought this yet?

He probably has three by now and is waiting for Paul to select the one the car gets before releasing the other 2 back to the wild...

Let's play capitalism,.........I've got one NOS I'll sell for $350. Anyone???...........................................................I didn't think so.

Let's be realistic,.....$200-300 would be "reasonable/fair" for both seller and buyer.

"Asking" $600 is comical,....what can you do but laugh?

At the $600 price point, the seller should just get real and "ask" $1,200,...why not?...........they are so rare, everyone wants one,.....right.

I'd call this,......"how to embarrass yourself 101 capitalism."

l paid 300 for the one l found....gotta remember to you folks this is $600 US...to me right now its $805 CDN plus shipping and customs so was prohibitive....now if it were the last piece l needed to complete a project and it was the only one out there............

Yes, but so few of us are investing in the kind of restoration work you are. To make a finishing touch on an otherwise perfect car... I would understand. For a driver status car with obvious flaws and survival modifications... Nah...too many more important places to spend the money. A universal aftermarket bottle, or zip tied jug will do the job... just remember this stuff is often flammable when locating your homemade bottle.

no l realize that and lm the type that would mod that up for pennies on any other car in a heartbeat....the GT unfortuneatley has taken on a life of its own and am not gona cheap out at this point

You deserve a "like", "thanks" and "agree" for that... so:thumbsup::thankyou:

Who really uses them? I don't use washers on my DDs , I don't like to wash the older cars and if I do its minimal. I never use washer fluid on the old cars ever. The only reason I have the bottle is because it belongs there.
Some of us are willing to go all the way on what belongs there regardless how restored the car is.

I have the patience and know when not to leap, this has been learned from many years of dealing in premium value parts on World War Two fighter aircraft where an oxygen regulator can set you back $18 000 for a new one. Overhauled ones are priced to compare to that as a benchmark.

Let's play fair.
Is it advertised for sale out there where people looking for one can find it as easily as the $600.00 one?

On my vintage stuff, no. When I restored my Barracuda I put a new bottle in and never put fluid in it, I didn't want it stained over time. Never once have I missed it, if for whatever reason I felt compelled to need it I would just stop and wash the windshield as I always have cleaning supplies in the trunk for shows.

Now $600 for this? If it was a 69 and I was at this point in my restoration and still didn't have one I might just get it, on the other hand it isn't needed for operation and is virtually hidden so it could wait.

It's a prominent feature in the engine compartment and for me it needs to be functional, so I'll use it. If I didn't have one, it would be worth $100 to me to get it, NOS, POS or repop, but that's it. Like I said before, this one has been for sale several times on eBay for the same price and it hasn't sold. This is E and B body "stupid money" range for a C body part. In 20 years we might be singing a different tune, but I kind of think a lot of us won't be around that long to enjoy the windfall.

For $600 you should be able to get a trunk monkey with a squeegee.:icon_fU:

I found a perfect bottle back around 1998 or 99 and I mounted it in place on the fender to keep it safe. It sat protected for nearly 15 years until Paul looked it over in 2013. It had hardened to the point of being brittle and useless. What I don't know is why, some sort of chemical fumes in the garage or could it be the plastic gets brittle if it's left without any water? I don't know, but not knowing stops me from spending much coin for a NOS bottle.

I have read that plastic parts can be softened and made nice white again by simply putting them in a big pot of boiling water and boiled for a few minutes. The is also supposed to remove the yellow, rust color. A short read.

My bottle "looks" ok but has a few holes on the bottom, so I have been pondering how to fix it. I'm going start with a big pot of boiling water on my BBQ and try the boil-it-to-soften-it. If I can reduce the brittleness it will make handling it easier. Then I'm going to experiment with liners.

Something that starts as a liquid and sets or dries into a transparent strong flexible film would be ideal. If clear or white can't be found, maybe painting the inside first would hide a darker liner. Maybe paint the inside with clearcoat, then inflate a nice thick skinned balloon inside. The balloon would bond to the clearcoat and make everything water tight.

For now my car is about 99% complete and my trunk stored bottle of Windex works just fine. :)

Like CanCritter I paid $350.00 for my NOS one for my Hurst. I have thought about having some local guys who have a scanner make a copy. One main issue I see though, unlike the other washer bottles, these have the metal attaching bracket. So even if you make the bottle, the bracket would also have to be made. One could salvage the bracket if you have it in the car yet, but many of the bottles are missing so a bracket would still be required.
