Old Man with a Hat
Dad' had Dodge trucks since 93. Every couple of years he'd get a new one. The progression has been impressive. Always 1500s always better ride quality. The build of the 2001s seem to be the tightest of all.
If ride quality mattered to me I wouldn't be driving 48 year old cars, have the Challenger R/T or a 2500. I guess we're at oppoites again
I don't really remember, it may have been that a red convertible could only be white, red or black interior. Red would be too much, white would always look dirty since in those days where I went so did my dog, muddy feet and all. If I was able to go back and change things, I would have kept the black interior, but the roof would be white instead of black and I would have ordered both AC and cruise. Hindsight is 20/20.I agree with all of that ...
Why did you buy a black interior?

Thank You ............. The lady that ordered my 70 new thought the white would get too dirty too fast . Which is why it is black . They didnt order the clock because it was a 12 dollar option ( or whatever it was ) yet they ordered the rimblow wheel .
I guess that was the general consensus, white got too dirty .
... ended up turning blue from denim jeans...
I really do like the truck... I just keep waiting to be so impressed that I want to give up my classic... the burb turns 20 next year and is still cheap as hell to keep on the road. Most of the newer features appeal to me, but I don't feel I can't live without them. I think I may have another decade of cheap and easy parts availability... which has always been her biggest asset.I'm at a point in my life that ride comfort is far more important than MPG. Don't get me wrong.... with all the gadgets this Ram has I'm still interested in all aspects of performance. I drive like an idiot....city driving is rated at 15 mpg and I've been hovering around 14.2 mpg. Oh well....like I said ride comfort is more important.

Way back when, my first burb was ordered new by my father... a 77 w/350 4bbl and 4 speed 1/2 ton. That one was capable of running around town close to 20 MPG, it was lighter and was the last year before more emissions went into light trucks... but I have a hard time not comparing other trucks to it's capabilities.
The ride and performance of your truck would quickly spoil me into a different set of priorities if I was to drive one for a while.

And keep in mind, we are running at 3000'+ here, not sea level. Your sticker is just about spot on. My average over 1000+/- engine hours has been 17MPG (US). Not too bad for a 6200 lb truck.
3.92, otherwise it would be dog to tow the trailer. That is 8500 lb with the car in it. When I bought mine, I had 6 "musts" on my list...Do you have the 3:21 or 3:92 axle?

3.92
brake controller
tow mirrors
big gas tank
6'4" box
buckets
I know the ride would make me want her... but unless Graham can tell me how to get one for about $5k and a 99 burb w/200k miles... anything more and I'd already be driving a 4spd Formal to work instead.Jeff....all it would take is a 5 mile test ride in a new Ram and you would be convinced. I loved my Titan. It was the 2nd new Titan that I owned and i had this one for 11 years. I was leaning towards keeping the Titan......until I took that new Ram for a test drive. A little consultating with Graham and I had the strategy to buy a $60k new Ram for $40k plus my old Titan. I couldn't be happier!
I couldn't live with a payment... I can mail order an engine or trans for about $2k... and pop it in on a weekend. She may lack sex appeal, but that's a good thing anyhow... I never have to worry about where I park. I've left her at a bar more than once... and always because I planned to.If I had a reliable mode of transportation that I knew the history of I wouldn't have my truck. You are better off with the suburban. Still decent ride, lots of room and no monthly check going out ...
