Got up early and wet sanded trunk/hood. Started shooting the clear...all the bugs that did not get into the paint...got into the clear. Ended up putting 3 coats of clear, so have plenty of room to cut & buff. I gave myself a 7.5 due to the bugs and runs, but pretty sure it will be bitchin when its done.
This is what happens when you don't pay attention and let your air hose get caught on the tire, the gun stops, but paint keeps coming out.
Another issue I had was half way through the 2nd coat of clear, my "expensive" $50 HF gun started giving me fits. Chunked it for my old reliable $15 HF gun to finish out the job. I knew I should have used it to start with, it has been through 2 full paint jobs now and never let me down.
Finally got whiskers done. Had to shave off the rubber on back side to get the chrome piece to fit right. After that, just drilled new holes, re-stapled.
If you have kept up with this thread, you probably see I tend to think outside the box...or maybe I think too much...anyway, when I came across this emblem, I knew I had to incorporate it into the project, 1958 Fury emblem. Just need to come up with a 2nd one. Also, got the JC Whitney well liner installed, was really surprised with the quality, pretty heavy canvas material.
