My new `67 Imperial Crown Coupe!

Nice! Did you have new hardened valve seats put in? 1.74" exhaust valves?

I probably will, I can't see having the engine torn down this far with the radiator out and not replacing it.

No not at all. The stock cam for the non power pack 440 had an exhaust lift of ".435, with the power pack the exhaust lift was ".458. The biggest I would go would be the ".474.

Not going with the .509"??? LOL!!!

I'm finding myself getting caught up with some paperwork and other things around the shop finally so I was able to get the engine torn down for the head replacement. I can say for sure that it's never been apart as all the original types of gaskets were still in place and judging by the part # and pentastar on the cam timing gear that's original too. Everything seems to be in great shape and I would say that the cam and timing set probably still has some miles left in it. If it wasn't for the fact that the seats were never changed to the hardened type I would say that the entire engine still has plenty of miles left in it. Barely a ridge on the cylinders! I am going to change the cam, I'm thinking with stock grind that was found on the HP that same year. .450/268 intak & .458/284 exhaust. Still have to drop the pan and change the leaky rear main and I also have new engine mounts for it.

Looking good Matt! What was the part number on the original heads that you just took off? And do you have pictures of the combustion side of them?

How many days till Carlisle Dave? Not enough! Looks like I'm going to be burning plenty of midnight oil for the next few weeks! It's ok though, I'm going to need a distraction like this...

Nice and even nicer!!! That is the only silver or pewter interior I ever seen.

Except for the seals crumbling into pieces there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the heads either but I know they had to have suffered for all these years without the lead.
