My new `67 Imperial Crown Coupe!

Got a few things done yesterday but ended up playing catch up with things that went on the back burner over the last week. The shop is a very different place right now and its very difficult to concentrate. I've got a lot of work to do there both for clients and on the Imp so I'm going to have to find a way to power through it. I'm going to put a call into my engine builder, he offered to come over and work with me on it and that might be a good idea.
any ideas on how I could match the patina that's on the block? After engine goes back together I'll need to paint the heads at the very least and I'd like to be able to freshen up the rest of it as well but at the same time don't want it to look freshly rebuilt.

Maybe Chris has an idea to get that look.

Sorry....my paint skills are horrible.

Maybe Matt should let you do the painting then to get the result he is looking for. :)

My first visit to this thread........ Very sorry for your loss Matt. I'm going to make a point to donate to out local shelter in Dusey's name too.
We have a pair of kittys..... 14 years old that are sisters and have never been seperated and provide hours of entertainment...... Totally opposite personalities....

I'll be excited to see the Imperial at Carlisle..... Can't wait to meet y'all

Dogs can become part of your life. Sorry to read of your loss.

And just to get away from the cats..... Here's my Danes.

Great looking Danes Big John, thanks!

made some progress on the Imp. Spent most of the day cleaning and degreasing the long block in preparation for reassembly. My friend and engine guy Rich Koffel came buy my shop just to have a look at the rotating assembly to make sure all was good with it before putting all the other new parts on it. Before I new it we had the new rear main housing and seal in it, the new cam in it and the timing set on and I'm not even sure he was here for an hour. I was not expecting that, thanks Rich!

That's looking real good Matt! Looks like you'll have it running by the end of the weekend!

I don't know about that Bob, I have some client work to do too but at this point I'm further along then I thought I'd be this evening!

I also came across these stamps on the block that I've not seen before and they're not on the machined pad. They're on the surface adjacent to the pad and where the water pump housing is attached.

There's no satisfaction like taking an impossible measurement and having it fall dead middle in the spec tolerances.
I have to light up a cigarette afterwards.

I wish I had one right now actually but this'll have to do! >insert pic of an icy cold Miller High Life<

We used to call those G. I. Q's. They still call them that?

G.I Quarts? Never heard that one or whatever else it may mean. I have heard B.A.B.'s though and my brother and I used to call them 'Uncle Ronnie Beer's' ... Uncle Ronnie used to drink a lot O' beer.

No. When those big bottles where first introduced, the size was called giant Imperial Quarts. Hence, G-I-Q's.
