Well....... I'm not going to Israel...... Thats for sure...!

Converted the original, or actually left the original alone and converted a spare. Now has modern innards including a jack for MP3 and an amp. Also made up a new pair of 3" speakers to fit where the speaker is in the dash.
It literally doesn't look any different externally. The only difference is an 1/8" hole was drilled in the upper right corner of the dial where an led shows through in different colors depending on what mode it's in. I had an extra AM and an AM/FM that came with the car, the original AM that's in the car works great so I didn't really want to mess with it and it turns out that the AM/FM unit that I have appears to be for a '68 as it looks just a bit different. The extra AM was the best bet although I did have him fix up the AM/FM unit for me so I could sell it and recoup some of the cost of the conversion. Eventually I'll put an amp and a sub in it when my pocket book recovers from all the Imperial love lately.I found a local guy here that does the conversions, I'll post up more details and his contact info in the next couple days.
There was a fellow at Carlisle, Row M, that offered that same conversion. He had a 60's mopar radio demo unit with the top removed set up and operating at his vendor space. Interesting...... The radio is completely gutted except for the tuner and a small curcuit board which does all the work. $395.00 for the conversion.
I'll keep a cable plugged in and route it somewhere that it can live and be out of site but convenient.
