My new `67 Imperial Crown Coupe!

Then And Now Automotive in Weymouth, MA..
yes I have a shop but I only keep it above freezing in the winter as its a very expensive place to heat. The sun coming in through all the windows, when there is a sun warms it up to about 40 degrees no matter how cold it gets outside.

You do know therez ah cheap way to heat that building don't you? The initial investment would amortize and be gone by the end of the 1st winter and you'd have 70* heat Fo-Cheap Fo-Evah no matter how cold it got outside! And fer another $500 or $600 you'd have ah 220 25 or 30K in the wall unit that'll keep you almost St. Pauli cool in August

Was your car making any noticeable noise when you went over bumps? Mine was worn enough that the metal would clang on metal when jostled.

I don't want to spend any money on this building Jer. You talking a pellet stove?

Jonathan, I was getting a knock on anything harder than normal acceleration, that's when I noticed it the most.

Mine was different, but the same. Some conditions would make it klang, and others would be just fine. It drove nicer with shocks, then when I replaced the Isolators, even nicer, and then replaced the sway bar links even better. When I finally had it at proper stock ride height (aired up the air shocks which were on the car when I bought it) front and rear, I really understood what they meant about the Chrylser line being more "roadable" than the competition. Much nicer to drive than my '65 Cadillac.

Did you do your track bar bushings? On mine, the end on the driver's side may as well not even be there.

No, haven't gotten that far yet. I'd have to go back through my pictures, but I don't think mine were that bad. The worst of all was that one of the sway bar links had broken off some time in the past. Quite literally "so bad it may as well not even be there!"

Did you get an estimate on turnaround from Then & Now yet?

One week from when they receive them. I'm dropping them off at the USPS on my way home!:eek:s_dancing2:

Tell me this thing has any benefit to my car!

My isolators arrived this morning and they are already installed. I still have to dial in the front suspension height but I already know this is going to make a big difference in drivability. Because the mounts were as bad as they were the bars were all out of adjustment to compensate and keep the front level from side to side. There was also a pretty major creaking noise from underneath that would happen when you opened either door and then it would also do it when you got in or out. That's no longer there and I'm really happy about that. I wasn't sure if that was coming from the isolators or somewhere in the rear suspension and I was actually thinking it was coming from the rear springs.

That is super awesome. Those are among the Imperial-only parts that are easy to replace but a pain to find. Let us know how it changes the drive.

I took a day off work next week to work on my car. Seeing this makes me really, really stoked.

:)

They look great, Matt! I'm glad your Imp rides as it should again! :) May I ask how much you've payed for the rebuild insulators?

Thanks guys, now we just need a couple of heavy rains to wash the tons of salt off the roads but I may take it out for a ride around the block today. $125 each plus shipping.

Me too! It's almost a daily driver during the season though so I will make time to keep it on the road, safe and dependable.

Season ender.
A month ago the most recent rebuild on the turn signal switch failed as the parts used to repair them just aren't up to the long term task. I unplugged it and jumped a few wires so that I could keep driving with brake lights but without turn signals or a horn and while I hated it it was better than not driving it at all. I already have the replacement part that I actually was able to find at an Alabama dealership NOS. it's not the tilt/tele switch but it's a standard one with cornering lights and the tele shaft will have to be added to it.
Having overcome that hiccup I continued driving up until last week when I could no longer ignore my seeping 4 piston calipers. I unbolted them for a visual and to see if there was anything obvious I could do to them to be able to finish out the season but two of the four pads are saturated with fluid and the other two are worn with a slight wedge shape. I've got pads coming from Craig over at Mobil Parts and have yet to order some rebuilt calipers but I will soon. I think I put almost 4,000 miles on it since spring and loved every one of them!
