Have a question about wiring neutral safety switch. My wiring was chewed up by mice. Had a wire dangling from the bulkhead that I thought was the neutral safety switch but the diagram shows it coming from the starter relay directly. Just wondering how to wire this.

Should be brown wire coming off starter relay and goes down to transmission, thats on my 68 300.

What year car? They changed in 1969 to include the reverse lights.

It's just one wire that runs from the NSS to the starter relay.

I have to double check this weekend, but I believe in the bulkhead slot w is the wiring hanging , and it says for brake warning lamp , yet my brake lights work .

I think would be when you loose brake pedal and it goes down to far, red light on dash comes on to warn you. Also may when emergency brake is applied. Does not effect brake lights.

This may be a dumb question, how does that wire get power then.
The wire should go to a switch on the proportioning valve below the master cylinder. A plug on lead. I am still learning myself on wiring working on my 68 300. All for brake lines hook up to this small block. There should be a stud to plug on wire.

Threaded stud is where wire should plug onto. If either piston hits stud, completes circuit, red light on dash comes on. If this is not accurate someone else will chime in. There are no dumb questions!

That's not a proportioning valve. It's a safety switch. The only thing that it has in common with a proportioning valve is the relative location in the car.

If you loose pressure on one side, either front or rear, the little shuttle valve slides over to an electrical contact and lights the brake light on the dash.

The dash brake light is also used for the emergency brake, with a small switch on the e-brake pedal assy. The e-brake wiring does not go through the bulkhead disconnect.

And to give a little edumaction.... I'm not recommending buying anything from this guy, but he does have some good info.

Thats why I ask and learn all the time!
