It had stop raining and I had to pick it up from the detailers shop. I live about 5 blocks away. found the oil change record the PO kept. 44 miles in 40 years

Are you going to paint your original 14" wheels body color with the caps? If you're going with 15" then there are some issues with hubcap fit, all the aftermarket steel wheels use the smaller later caps but there are workarounds.

John, I want to stay with 14". How about just stay with black wheels? Think anybody would notice? I need to buy a couple of wheels, for some reason 2 of mine don't have the hubcap nubs. I wanted to ask, if I'm not being to nosey, What's your brothers collection? Mopars? Mike

If you need 14" wheels that can use your new hubcaps, just make sure they'll fit, believe around '66 or '67 they went to a smaller cap, something like 10" to 9" OD. As far as wheel color, probably not too many would notice. I went with 15" wheels on my '65 since it was so much easier to find tires. Painting them body color was easy-peasy, I just ordered some from a company where they make spray cans to match your paint code.
My brother has no mopars to speak of unless a late model jeep qualifies. I've been driving some of his cars as he recently had a serious accident, shattered the bones in his lower leg in a work accident & is fairly immobile. He has a Mustang LX 5.0 with like 18K miles he bought new, couple LT1 cop cars, and some foreign crap. He once had at least 4 old C's, years '65-'71. This one (non-C) was originally bought by my mom in '74, total survivor with 20k miles. My long-departed dad taught me (age 16) how to drive a stick in this so it holds some memories, try not to laugh too hard-

No laughing here. over 544K 1974 Pinto's produced. I remember the oil embargo. Could not buy gas, had to wait in line and could only get 5 gallons. Muscle cars were laying everywhere. I traded in a 1968 Mercury Cyclone for a Vega. Those were the days

Know all about that, had a friend that traded a 1970 442 W30 for a new Vega, very poor investment. Pintos had an undeserved bad reputation, there was really nothing wrong with them except for being rust prone which applied to everything back then. The 2000cc motors were very well built unlike the Vega.

Dog dish requires blackwell. Commando1's Rule of Accessories #74.
Back when those cars were new (the Coronet), if somebody was "frugal", but wanted to look more upscale and didn't want full wheel covers (and the other options that should go with them), then adding the inexpensive white wall tire option was the way to keep the clean look with a bit of class. Just as some might/did drive around with the windows up and a towel at hand, in the TX summer heat, to look like they had a/c in their car, by observation.
A blackwall tire typically just needed a quick rinse to look good, but white walls usually needed a bit of hand scrubbing to look their best. FWIW

Don't mind the whitewalls at all with the dog dishes but I do like the body colored wheels like they did it originally. I'd be a little hesitant to repaint your original wheels since your car is so crazy pristine original. Maybe get a 2nd set of wheels for the dog dishes? That's what I did with mine. Your car is looking sharp in its winter hibernation Mike!

Thanks everyone for the comments. it's 23 outside with snow. I keep it around 50 in the attached garage with plastic on the floors and both cars are hooked up to battery chargers, I shut the chargers off at night just for peace of mind.

You should have kept that NY-er! The nicest I've seen. Could live with the magnum knockoffs though not the previous mags. To each his own, I don't have any big problem if someone's taste differs from mine.

yeah, I agree, each to there're own taste. With these dog dish I can go back to original anytime. I'm stuck in the house and need something to do.

I sell tires for a living...
You can go with 15x7 M body (5TH Ave,Diplomat/Gran Fury) wheels,black or body color with the dog dishes you have and still look correct.
That way you can put 22570r15 tires on there to fill out the wheelwell and the outer diameter will be bang on to the bias-ply 775-14 of 27 inches tall. A 1.3 inch more than your current rolling stock.
My example here is skinny 5.5 wide steelies on the right, and the left is 22570r15 on the 15x7's which are on the 69 Fury..
Quite a difference and a huge improvement in ride quality. and still look factory stock..
