NOT MINE Not mine 1970 Hurst FB

Did you not even keep record of the vin tag sequence of your 71?
Absolutely not. I sold the car and gave the guy any paperwork, and he drove away, and I turned around and ordered my 2000 Vette. Same with my 68 340 Dart when I sold it and bought the Cuda. Who cared about a Dart's "provenance" in 1978?

As GOLDMYN basically said, the only thing important about the VIN is that it matched on the registration and insurance cards so you wouldn't get arrested for car theft when you got pulled over for speeding. It wasn't until Reggie Jackson's garage fire that burned up a few Cudas in 1988 that we had ANY idea that these cars had any real potential value. By then, those annoying and finicky 3x2 carbs were gone LONG before we ever heard the term "A12", replaced with a proper 850 double-pumper. :wideyed: Same with those pesky ThermoQuads on a 340. Toss that damn thing, and while you're at it unscrew that damn razor sharp tag on the fender with those gibberish numbers. And when we ran a hidden nitrous line from the trunk up through the firewall we found some tattered piece of "computer" paper in the rear seat. GONE!

And now? I'm obsessing over the details of a giant Chrysler that nobody ever heard of nor cared about as they rusted away and the engines went into someone's 383 Cuda or RR. Go figger!

But you might very well be right about the BS in this car....nobody ran a nitrous line through a 300 Hurst.
