Here is a little update on the repairs. I stopped by the body guy to see how far he has got on the 300. These are the areas he is working on.

The damage on the passenger door is from a few different accidents. The good thing if you look at the door gap, it is even all around the door, so it is all cosmetic damage on the door skin.

The right quarter has the most rust. Most of the cancer in the outer skin has been cut out; he will cut out the rest once he has formed the replacement panel. The inner leg is rusty about the same distance up and will be cut out too.

This is all that was needed to be cut out of the left quarter panel. The hole is about the size of a quarter.

Looks like you have an excellent body and paint guy! Good for you!

Sign of a good body man. Correctly pulls out the crease instead of Carlos' Body Shop method of making a new crease with bondo. Nice job.

Yes I told him I wanted him to pull it out and not just bondo a new line. I couldn't get that crease out myself. There was damage right next to the door that I was able to pound flat with a hammer and dolly, but it was below the crease not in it. There was no way to get behind the door unless I cut out a chunk of steel and welded it back in later.

I can't even figure out how the dent in the middle of the door, was caused in the first picture. It had to be backed into with something because the paint really isn't scraped the metal was streached by impact. I bet there were over 50 dings in the paint, on that right side and I'm not including the door. The rest were in the rear quarter where people in the back seat of thier big four doors swung open and hit the car. The good thing about most of them is they sanded out and where not dents just paint chips.

2 down one to go. I got a couple more shots of the body repairs. The left quarter panel and passenger door are finished. The right quarter is left and it was in the worst shape. He wanted to finish the left side first so he would have a good pattern to go off of to finish the body work.Door repaired.sm.jpgLeft Quarter panel repaired.sm.jpg

Nice, you gotta be flying by June.

That would be nice but hopefully I will be able to take it straight to the upholstery shop after paint and I would follow over dead if he finished it in 2 weeks, even though he told me once he got it he could do it in 2 weeks.

Carlisle is possible? Right?

This year looks like just the Nationals in Columbus. Summer is the busiest time of the year for my business and I would feel better having some more miles on the car to sort out any problems that might show up, before I take a longer trip.

I know, I'm going to miss all the fun. The Nationals are from Aug 9-11 and is always the hottest week of the summer.

I thought Carlisle week in July was the hottest week of the year! LOL!!!

Aaahhh NO, The Nationals is never the hottest week of the summer. Bob is correct, ACN has proven to be consistently the hottest weekend of the year. The Nationals has never had a heat index of what was it? 113?

OK you win, but in Columbus it is always around the hottest weekends of the year. I looked it up and August 8th was the hottest day of the summer in Columbus last year. I remember last year's Nationals the heat index was in the 100s but not 113 that is stinking hot, and you had your top down all weekend? I work outside all summer but I try and stay on the shaded side of the house.

What better way to sort things out then a road trip....? LOL.
I had Jazebelle ready to go two weeks before the Turkey Run in Daytona Beach... Put 150 miles on her around this area with no issues besides some carb and timing adjustments.... Then put 1900 miles on her and only had to replace a power steering hose. Seems the further I drive her the sweeter she runs.....

I like the way your moving right along on your car..... The passion shows....

NO! I had it up all weekend. No fun on the turnpike on that black interior baking like a potato

I'm saving that reply to The Cloud so I can trot that out whenever necessary from now on.
Uh-uh. Too late. You said it....

I would never lie. If I was by myself I may have had it down, but with the kids in the back? No reason to have it down. Besides, the motel is ten minutes away from the fairgrounds and I wasnt going to let the cars interior bake for four days.

Yeah Stan, it was HOT, Hotter than anything Florida has to offer, rub it in, go ahead but I loved it
