That happens when the fuel is out of control or she starts fueling off her own oil supply... runs several times red line and grenades...
 
so just stand back and let it run until it blows up (so to speak). thats what i guessed. ugh. :(
 
That's something I'm not sure how to do....
Usually when it was very cold, while you were trying to start it. While cranking it would sputter mid way through the revolution, kick back, catch, and then run backwards. Lotsa and lotsa smoke.

I know they had CCW cams available for marine use (and V drive Buses)... wasn't that hard on the cam?

The engines had a gazillion miles on them and were so loose, nobody gave a ****. We tried to kill them but they would only replace it with another million mile hand me down veteran.

Ah.... such fond memories of the good old days... :rolleyes:
 
Thank you... but rank amateur when it comes to the big stuff. I was always happy dealing with parts I could pick up by myself.

its all "relative" I guess. Im smart and I can learn stuff .. youre smart and know stuff .. about mechanical things. that was my observation. :)

i get commando1's point now. he reversed the "rotation" of a diesel. that i have heard tell of.

I thought he was saying he could he coulda saved that Pete from an explosive demise having done so before.
