Orange Co FL DMV...

This is like you're 108th horrible bureaucracy disaster you've related to us.
Are you sure it's the bureaucracy? :poke:

Absolutely, maybe... IDK... do you think I'm flagged in the DMV system... like being on the "no fly" list? I am amazed that every time I go there, the clerk doesn't seem to know how to complete the transaction. Next time I think I'll try the MILF at Avon Park...

Hokey smokes sorry for your trouble. When we moved here and had to go to DMV for the VIN verification, tag, title and DL, we were in and out in under 30 minutes. Though we had learned to read each and ever possible piece of paper work the dmv could have asked for from our experiences in CT.

In CT our DL's were an entire day for each of us. Plates were a nightmare. Everytime we went we were turned away for another piece of paper work on the truck. The Magnum we had a book with us as we were only going once. I think the DMV there actually gets a rise out of sending you packing repeatedly.
I have one year to get my license renewed... I need to go show them all of the paperwork to get a little star on the silly thing, so I cant do it online this time. I asked about it while I was there, but you're only allowed to be in one line at a time... They claim you have to do this in the county you live in, I am dreading this next experience. Thanks Florida... BTW, does anybody know about the little star thing? Is it some kind of Homeland Security thing or is it just another FL thing that 25 years after they issued you a license you have to go and re-verify your identity? When I first looked at it, it sounded like you need a passport to get a license...

Your story illustrates that if you ever pass through the gates of hell, you will have arrived at the DMV. . .
I've always been pretty sure that if there is a line to get into hell... it had a Walmart cashier at the end of it... Maybe I've been wrong all this time.

Separation of posts, very cunning. .....

Here in PA, you can walk into any AAA office or most notaries, and get it all done. Unless you want special order plates, they have them right in the back room. They mail your special order ones to your house if you want.
It's worth the extra money they charge not to have to deal with those paper assholes at the dmv

This is one thing that Pa. does right, all title transfers, plate work is done by outside sources ie. they need to do more to make more money 50 a day pays better than 1. I do miss the old days when you went to a "neighborhood Notary" literally in a office in their basement, enclosed side porch, whatever, standing there by myself "have so and so sign here" turn around sign sellers name with my left hand "now you sign here and here and here" my name with right hand "how much did you pay for the car" $25... "must be a good one" write a check for the state fees and cash for notary and you where out the door with licence plate.

you suck.
well l know lm doing something right....let's hope the 70,71 fury go as well....
We have privately run registries here that deal with most of the DMV issues so we're not dealing with gov employs type deals so things general move along quickly if you have paperwork in order

We have to register vehicles in the county you live in here because of differing emission laws. Yup, believe it or not, in Texas, emission laws require different standards by county. In Harris county (greater Houston) the DMV gives you a number and has seating for about a hundred, in Galveston county, the DMV has a line that is painful to wait in.

I have never tried to register a out of state car in MI so I am not sure how difficult it is but like Detmatt I have never had any of problems some of you guys have had at the dmv

Boy and I thought the Illinois Secretary of State was bad, Indiana's B.M.V. is great, walk in, get a number, called within 15 min. get paperwork done, walk out the door with temp. plate total time 30 min.
Permanent plate comes in the mail.

So, just a dumbass question. In those states that do them, what is the reasoning for temporary plates, unless you are getting some sort of personalized plate? It seems like a waste of time and energy.

In Ill. they give you plates on the spot if not a personalized plate. In In. all plates come from the capital.

Not so cunning... just clarity...

I miss PA at times like this... AAA membership paid for itself in title work alone.

In my youth, we found a little old man who was a notary way out in the middle of nowhere Washington county... He would do a few practice signings and would fill out an open title for you. He also never checked for insurance, I had 5-6 plates for a couple years before I was drinking age... then it caught up with me...
Yes, now he's a long winded post *****.
Obviously, I have always been a *****... I just try not to cheapen myself too much.

Most men are whores, (myself included) nothing wrong in being a high class one.

States way of letting you know they are still in charge..,... Or a waste of time.

Those were the only paper plates I ever had in my life. Even when I put personalized plates on a car FL would give a metal plate and then send the new one in the mail... That was a huge waste.
