Is the "domestic" residence still standing? So many of the older houses with character in the Pasadena area of California have long since been demolished. That architecture was also amazing, but a lot of wood and stone were used in building them originally. But they were probably not built as well as the ones in Milwaukee due to very different weather conditions. Thanks for yet another great structure photo.

I was just there in May and I didn't notice if the domestic residence is still standing. I will check this spring when I'm back in Milwaukee.

There were 100's of these mansions up and down Wisconsin Ave. There are only 5 or 6 left on that street today.

What a different world - circa the late 20s, a complete steak dinner for 45 cents! Really hard to relate in this day and age. Many great memories for you.

I still go there for perch dinners and traditional German dishes. I gather up the remaining family members and treat them to dinner there every time I'm back in Milwaukee. Everyone invited always shows up. Lol

BTW, my parents, grandparents, great grandparents house is just 4 blocks from this dam. We actually live 1 block away from the North Avenue dam a little south of this dam. We use to hang out at the river when I was a kid and ice skate for 3 miles on the river like they did over 100 years before me.

On a side note....

I'm marathon watching Boardwalk Empire. A great TV series that was on HBO. Period correct historical fiction about the corruption in Atlantic City, NJ set right after WWI. Seeing the period correct furniture, technology, culture, architecture, music, clothes, and vehicles is very accurate, interesting, and cool.
