Former Edsel dealer, Marino Auto Sales, 617 Front Street, Plainfield NJ.

Nothing architecturally distinctive, except there were (still are in remnant form) THOUSANDS of these former NEW car dealerships, tucked away and now selling used cars or dilapidated/overgrown relics.

It's also kinda the legitimate business reason why new car OEM's "brand boxed" their franchisee stores past 40 years, as well as rationalized their dealer networks during past 20 years. Consistent look for dealerships was good for the brands.

I know this building. Obvioius a dealership, not Edsel when I knew it though.

"Rough" neighborhood now though.

Russ Dawson Edsel, 10123 Grand River, Detroit. Built in the 1940's, streamline moderne. One the many, ex dealerships in Detroit I'd "hobby house" in a minute .. I just cant live there.

Russ Dawson's other big, Detroit proper, dealership. 14240 W. Seven Mile, Detroit.

Gone today ... also in a "rough" neighborhood today. Though, there MAY be a remnant of the original dealership still standing there/

That monthly car payment of $66 and down payment of $395 in 1958 is equivalent to $707 / $4200 today. Interestingly, the average new car payment today is $730.

Oklahoma City.

Any current/former big city urban residents may recognize this kinda building. I see them all over Detroit anyway.

Corner lot, area has declined a bit from former glory, and/or its transitioning from old to new, a gigantic, clear-span, sub-divided, contiguous building, etc,

If you didnt know it was a car dealership (or other kinda retailer with a showroom with street frontage), you wouldnt guess that.

Let alone a brief time 60 years ago as a Edsel dealer. Nothing architecturally distinctive here, looks like a post WWII design.

The former Beach Edsel, 4264 Pearl Road, Cleveland, OH. I'd "hobby house" one, but most of time neighborhood is too "rough", and/or zoning doesn't allow mixed use.

Nashville, 1962

Not a lot of architecture here, but some signage and it's just a cool pic.

Former Bullock Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, 740 Central Avenue, Grant, Nebraska. Art deco, pre-WWII design.

Was a franchise dealer until 2002. Also featured in 2014 on Barn Finds auction.
