This instantly reminded me of the Ford LTD ad campaign from 1965.

I like the front of the car much better.

Smoother = car. Quieter = Caddy Did I get an A?

My bet would be on the Caddy, which would also be true if the question was, "Which has more power, gets better gas mileage, and you would rather use if driving from California to New York?"

BUT!!!!

Which one would get the "Thumbs up" on said ride and which would be ignored?

That's why we like our old cars.

The caddy, even with the noise cancelling system is no quieter than the NYB. Shifts harder (I think that is a GM problem for that tranny), and has more engine noise. Maybe on purpose. Ride wise? No comparison. We have a couple of roads up here in horrible repair. For about two miles, the road is a mess. You hear and feel it in the caddy. At 40 yrs old, in the NYB, you would think it was a new road.

I can only imagine how much better it was new.

That said.... handling? The caddy! Braking and acceleration. Caddy. Bluetooth? Caddy!

But every time I get behind the wheel of one of these old c bodies I get an appreciation for how well built they were.

Really? Friends of ours have a 08 or 09 escalade and it is quieter than my Peterbilt but ride and seating position is about the same, after all it is a truck underneath.

Quieter and smoother? I would put my money on the Imperial anytime. Better handling, braking, gas mileage? Probably any modern car.

Yes, really. Other than something like a Focus or other small car, I would take any new car on a long trip over anything made in the '70s. Yes, the ride on a Formal is quite comfortable, but the MPG, dependability, power, extras, there's no comparison. Since I bought my 2017 Durango RT I've rarely even been in my Newport. There is simply no comparison - other than the visual appeal.

You should try pumping up the seat. That works, too... :poke:
No that just makes my head hurt I'm going down when truck is going up.

Blasphemy............
LOL

No question, the Imperial is smoother and quieter. Where I used to work, they had a very similar Cadillac and it was terrible. Too heavy for the suspension, so body role was terrible and road noise wasn't any better. Granted it was a company vehicle and probably driven hard but when I used it, it only had 46K miles and I was completely unimpressed.

I take the Imp over the Caddy. Agree most modern cars are superior to a 70s model i'm just not a truck or suv kinda guy. Besides, black Escalades are as common as North Face jackets here.
This is the preferred ride!

Had two new Challenger R/Ts ('11 and '12). Liked them both. Will buy a new one just before they stop making them. Thought they might spoil me for old cars.

It's 25 degrees outside. There is a burned up c-body in my garage. Tomorrow morning at 4:30 AM, i'll be driving this car 30 miles to work.
