All of the above except Idid not hand prime it. Picked up a priming tool, put a gauge in place of sending unit and going to hand prime it this weekend. Hopefully will take care of this issue.

Good news, my 300 is running! I picked up priming tool at summit yesterday and new shaft. Went ahead and tried priming the pump, nothing. Took ok oil pump back off, repacked with vasoline. Put back on and tried again, after about 10 seconds it jumped up to 70 lbs. Did that about a minute. Put new shaft in and reinstalled dist. Second crank it started right up, 70 lbs! Let everything settle into place. Lifters quited down, idle smoothed out. 30 lbs oil pressure on idle. Water temp came up about 165, stat opened. I let it run till it ran out of 2 gal gas can, plugged voltage reg back up and about 45 secs it started to smoke again. Shows to be getting 12.2 volts to imput side. When I plugged it back up it did make a slight drain on engine RPM. I dont know if thats normal or not. Im not sure how to check amp draw. Any suggestions would be great. Been a long 2 years but shes finally running. I appreciate all the help along the way!
