She's Here

Actually, the case broke. The gears were fine but the ring & pinion got torn up. Cost me eighteen hundred bucks for a new case & ring/pinion.

Wow! That Challenger is a money pit too!

An enjoyable one.....

Mark, were you able to determine what rear is in the car?

And is that a make-shift over flow bottle next to the radiator?

It would be wonderful if you could get that rear seat back plastic filler panel to Bob in Arizona intact so he could reproduce it...... Thats the nicest one i've seen.

Yeah Mark, do the hobby a favor and send that out there will you? Thats a $200.00 item the c body world needs.

i checked it and its open, what ratio? I don't know. Probably a 3.23.

yes on the bottle, on the rear........sheet says it is open, axle code is 51, which is 2.76. so it should cruise good but not that fast off the line.

BTW, I have a name for her..............Madeline

Should still be a tag on the axle with the ratio stamped on it as unmolested as that car is.
Madeline huh? I like it.

That's all the pics. It took abt 45 minutes to get the key, but only because one of the backrest screws was stripped and it took awhile to get it out.

Also, she had her maiden voyage right after i took them, went for a 6-7 mile ride. the weather was abt perfect and she road/drove really nice. Car has typical 440 power, I love it! I frickin love it. Only issue noted was the stalling, which only seems to happen when you are going real slow on a turn...once you step on the gas she wants to konk out.....choke maybe? Def not a fuel issue, something with the carb. it does not happen and any speed over 10-12 mph and it seems decent when you are stopped at a light or stop sign, i had no problems then. it also was a operating temp so it wasn't a cold or hot issue. Brakes are excellent too, much better than the all drum grabbing action!

Good news boys..........I am keeping this car!

Holy crap, I take an unexcused absence and you buy a car.... Nice, I like it.

I haven't read to the end of this thread yet, so it may have already been said that your carb issue is your accelerator pump.

the carb was rebuilt maybe a yr ago, so i would have thought it wasn't in the carb, but there aren't too many things that will cause that type of problem. i'll work on it the end of this month to get to the bottom of it.

I would check the adjustment on the accelerator pump....

Retarded timing can also cause it to fall on it's face off idle...

Unmolested car? Nice!

I would change all the fluids including flushing the brake fluid.
