my neighbor mentioned the timing thing as well, he thinks there may be a vac leak, esp since the idle is rough, or the vac advance is not working.

Most, if not all of that was just done over the last year by the previous owner. It really just has a few very minor issues and needs tires before really hitting the road. Dash lights don't work so it probably needs a new dimmer switch.

I would still check....

Stick a finger in the diff and see if it's full and the gear oil is clean. Take a look in the master cylinder and run my finger in the bottom of the reservoir to see if it's clean, etc.

When it comes to maintenance......it always best to verify.

circuit board? Maybe but I just had the rotary dimmer rebuilt for my Imp and in the process looked at the rest of the dimmers I had on hand and all had the same issue. They are all worn out and not making contact on the reostat.
thats the culprit IMO.
