"Special" Editions

I dont know my Matadors that well .. but all the cars below are listed as 74-76's. The ones with the "snouts" (all the sedans I guess?) are not my faves.

Different topic .. a LOT of these coupes online are depicted WITHOUT their bumpers .. anybody know what's up with that? This is the 5 mph bumper era by law.

Dunno if same car as photo above .. but looks like it.

Here is your Real '68 Bengal Charger R/T in the 'WILD'. as of Aug 18, 2017 I have owned this car for 41 years and am finally looking into
performing a complete restoration soon. Your correct, it was a regional thing - but the modifications were done at the Hamtramck factory
so it is a factory Special Edition with only 50 produced.

Ok, runnin' outta Mopars. Stumbled across this one just googlin' "Special Editions".

1975 GMC Pickup for Sale | ClassicCars.com | CC-578910

$38,500

1975 GMC Gentleman Jim truck. The Gentleman Jim is a very rare and historic vehicle. This was the first luxury truck GMC ever made!

In 1975 there were 2800 GMC dealers in the United States but only 1700 participated in the Gentleman Jim program. They made between 1700 and 2500 of these trucks.

As far as I am aware- and I've been following this model very closely- this is the only Gentleman Jim that still has the original leather truck bed with walnut slats supporting it. It also has the original set of floor mats. Less than 35000 miles.

Truck is all original with all accessories that came from the factory. It does have new tires that were a special order, same as factory. bucket seats, bed cover, air, tint, auto, many other options.

As AMC cars are included, the RHD mail delivery Matadors come to mind and the AMC Javelin Mark Donohue Special Edition. Haven't researched Prices for the AMX/Javelins of the first series but they always used to be underrated in my opinion.

Neat post. Did not know about either of these cars. And I love Javelins.

apparently the Postal service cars were mostly RH drive models, the rural cars had 232 cubic inch 6 bangers, while the supervisior cars could be had with 290 and 343 "Typhoon" V8's. I bet NONE of these cars are left

1961 Chrysler Turboflight.
I realize this is probably a concept car. But nonetheless, I figured it was kind of fitting to include it here.
I love the design. Wish they would have done a run of these. Looks like something out of the jetsons.

1965 AMC AMX prototype.

Apparently its still owned by a collector somewhere in Canada. Somehow it escaped the crusher back in the day and got into private ownership.

Any of you folks remember this one from the Detroit Auto Show (2005-ish?) The Chrysler ME412.

I remember givin' 'em the Austin Powers "Yeah Baby". I was sure they would build it but didnt. Wonder if any of em got into the public's hands?

source: Chrysler ME Four Twelve concept car

A highly modified Mercedes powerplant, it was reportedly designed for Chrysler, and was rated at 850 bhp @ 5750 rpm, with 850 lb-ft. (1150 N-m) of torque between 2500 and 4500 rpm on premium unleaded fuel.

Use of the AMG engine was dictated largely by the need for high power with light weight (around 500 lb) and at reasonable development cost; the Chrysler V10 would have been much larger and heavier.

PS. Yeah, last pic. I know the city. Any of you? Hold that thought .. I'll make a Mopar puzzle out of it later :)

Found this on Pinterest. May be here somewhere on FCBO but I couldn't find it

Alleged to be as follows:

It was the primary design concept for the 300, and Ghia in Italy was commissioned to build a a running prototype. The front end is virtually unchanged from the production 300, but a late change of heart (chickened out?) caused the fins and “continental spare” to be jettisoned.

I had to dig a bit, there is another from shelby but it is considered a concept vehicle. Referred to as 84 1/2s. Looks a bit like Jer's scamp, the roof wing was throwing me off on the scamp.

While still AMC, the Jeep Honcho. Made 1976-1983. "Mucho Macho" -- not hard to tell what demographic this vehicle was intended to reach :)

an aside; anybody KNOW this wheel's specs? Painted steel obviously, has a "road wheel" look, 15x8 or wider? 6-lug? Hard to find?
