I have some great news to report!!! I was just informed by Mindy (Murray's wife)that Murray Park has something in the works to get the 1978 New Yorker and Newport wiper cam Part Number 3799183 reproduced. They are taking names now from people that are interested in purchasing the wiper cam. I'm going to get two of them. So if you know anyone or another forum please pass on the info so others can get the wiper cam too. Murray Park can be reached at 419-448-0293. Thanks!

I bet your very happy now! Glad to hear some good news for you insofar as your wipers are concerned.

I know of two other guys waiting for that part. I'll pass it on. Great news for the Formal generation, indeed.
Now, about those roof rail weatherstrips....

LOL! I asked about those too........she said she'll talk to Murray. I'll bring it up when I talk to Murray tonight.

Murray said he gets call every day looking for that wiper cam. He has a list of people wanting one. He said that he hoping to have the wiper cams produced by summer.

Lets think about that........ everyday? for how many years? There cant be that many 78 Chryslers still in existence

Just about everyone I know with one needs the wiper cam. That includes Newports. They made 70,000 NY'ers & Newports that year.

Theres not that many on the road Bob. There just isnt....

I am glad for you and hope it works out, just doesnt make sense unless he can get it made cheap

If the price is reasonable....I'll buy a spare too. I found a used one for sale, the pictures look worse than the one that I have and he wants an INSANE AMOUNT OF $$$$ for it. Plus the damn thing is still 35 years old. That plastic material used doesn't hold up at all with age.

I'm glad someone is doing it.
If you recall my post last week about my trying to repop some weather stripping and gave up after doing the math, Murray must think there's enough demand.

and its gotta be cheap for him to produce. Its a one year only part, correct? Doesnt make sense, if he was going to take the time and go through the expense you would think he would make it a multi year thing

Bob, did the 79-81 R-bodies use it, too?
I also recall from some truck forums guys moaning about needing it, too.

I did talk to Murray tonight for a good bit. He is also very close to getting the roof rail seals for 74-78 Formal 4 door hardtops into production also. He'll let us know something in the near future.

I thought you guys said it was a one year only part

It is.........only 78 NY'ers and Newports. Chrysler didn't offer the wiper cam as a part by itself. You had to buy a link kit which consisted of 5 parts. The wiper cam, plastic ring that it sits, spring, the actual metal linkage rod that goes from the wiper motor to the 1st pivot and the small bushing that connects it to the pivot.

No April 1st humor from me. I'm just reporting what Murray said. Call him.
