SSBC conversion issue?!

Sorry to throw fuel on your fire but damn gm. I say that because I'm a week into changing power steering hoses on a trail blazer what a PITA lines are sandwiched between body and frame also bracket with bolt head pointing straight at bottom of engine I now know why Chrysler developed a big chunk of the space program there where no rocket scientists at gm.

I know what you're saying. I've owned one GM and will never own one again. It was a 2002 S10 Blazer. That thing was crap inside and out. Anyway, if you remove the motor mounts and jack the motor up a little, will that free up some space for you?

Getting back to my issue, I believe the only thing that will change by me moving the lines to the correct port on the MC will be timing. The rear brakes will come on a little sooner than the front. Pressure won't change, but maybe this is the key to get this bad boy to stop. We'll see. SSBC is sending me a set of Hawk HP pads at half the price of Summit Racing, so that's good.

i dunno man, brakes suck. except you need them. I don't think its the booster SIZE, as I have a single diagphram power drum brake booster (orig stock one) that I used with the ECI disc brake kit, and the MC bolted right on (napa $14.99), no bad angles, same pushrod, etc, etc. but anyways, when I asked ECI about having to change to a dual dia booster, they said "why?" and they were right, it works well with a single dia booster.

I got to go with something is not working like you think / like its supposed to be working.

the MC should go right onto the booster with no issue. the pushrod should keep the MC about 1/16th from flush with the booster, so you push it that last itty bit.

the ECI kit suggests a 1 1/32 MC bore, which I went with.

Yeah that's basically what I have going on. The MC is at the correct spacing before it's bolted to the booster. The PO should have just left the original booster on the car with the original push rod and just changed the MC, but my buddy Dan Foley has the same setup on his 67 Cornet R/T and has no issues. So, like you said, there is something in this system that's not working correctly. I will figure it out hell or high water..!! First thing is to switch those MC lines and test it. If that doesn't work, next will be the push rod, but I don't think that's the problem. It's only on a very slight angle and I don't think it's binding, but I will adjust it to make it straight. If that doesn't work I will put on the Hawk HP pads. If that doesn't work,..I will sell the car,..LOL. Just kidding!

I would take a look in the MC since you driven it a little....just to make sure it's still full with brake fluid.

It's fine! I replaced the brake lines at the master cylinder because I just didn't want to bend them to the new position. My son and I bled the entire system. The brake fluid is new at every wheel.

Uh. . . We are still not clear concerning the nature of your fix. What did you do to fix the problem ?!?

Nevermind. . . I just now read the other thread that described your fix.

Congratulations !

To this day i have not mastered the art of bending of wrinkle-free small radii. It's harder than it looks.

Yes it takes time and just going slow as you bend. I hate brake lines that are just bent to get the job done. It looks ridiculous and makes for a shitty looking engine bay. I want to learn the art of a wire free engine bay. That looks so nice!

Too show car for me. I think an impecably wired engine bay with correct connectors, tape, harness clips, etc, and no 3M crimp connectors is much sexier as it shows the owner cares about attention to detail. I especially love correct spark plug wiring all lined up like soldiors.

Oh so do I, but it looks pretty cool with hidden wires too. My engine bay looks pretty good. Hey, as long as it's clean that's all that matters to me. What kind of car do you have? C body?
