No problem Brian, I've learned a lot from your restoration posts here and on other sites. HMMMM I just had another thought on the subject, I don't think these cars even had automatics on the column. they were all pushbuttons with the "Astrodome" dash. Weren't they?

Yep........! In fact all 1956 through 1964 Mopars equipped with automatic trans were pushbutton controlled except for cars with console floor shifters.

Mopar always had an aversion to column shifters in one form or another.

And trucks, though the 1968 model year, had the automatic shifter lever on the dash (vans through 1969).

I passed on a damn nice '62 Newport wagon last year with a 361 and 3-speed manual on the floor. It was red and white. Ended up with a classic car dealer in southern Wisconsin. Very nice wagon!
