**** storm

They probably are. And quoting maaco for the body work. Insurance companies are clueless. And happy to low ball. Your best bet is go to 3 different body shops and average the 3 quotes. I guarantee all of them will tell you they can do it, and get the parts. But when they start looking for them they'll quickly find out there not ordered via www. There parts guy will be lost.

I bet they're still using the 1978 collision manual....

Yep, they are getting away with murder. They are only going to pay $1700 for the damage.

Time to go to your State Insurance Commissioner and go to arbitration. I had to do that with a '70 F250 that was valued at $7,800, and the crooked bastards at USAA offered, in their words, a "generous offer" of $2,450. I told them to stuff that in their asses. The USAA "expert" adjuster tried to insist that the truck had factory air which had been removed (the truck NEVER had air, EVER!), insisted the repaint was not a factory color (it was, and who cares about that?), and that the factory toolbox in the side of the bed was an aftermarket job (this guy didn't know a damn thing about Fords at all!). I ended up with $5,200 and the truck, which was FAR better than the crooks at USAA were willing to do for me. I dropped them immediately afterwards.

40 comments in 25 minutes. I saw one that was close but it said "shift gate" rather than "slap shift" on the gyc page. Mark Worman commented on my pic said it the same as the one he posted but says "slap shift".

That is '70 E-body.
I don't think I have seen one that says "Slap Shift", I have one that says "Slap Stik", and one that says "Shift Gate", and one that is blank. :backontopic: :poke:

Hagerty or Grundy stated value insurance. Fair adjustments, understand classic cars and parts difficulties. Prompt claim adjustments AND payments. Recomendations of shops qualified to perform repairs on classic, muscle, antique and collector cars. Cost less than regular insurance if your car is not your daily driver.

Had same issue on a two houses with hail damage ... Ins company offered $12K on two hail damaged houses. I went and got my own independent insurance adjudicator guy (can't remember the exact term but think that's it).

After my guy got done with them we got $33K and they were happy to be done with him and agreed immediately

Tomorrow I have an Allstate adjuster coming to the house for a pipe leak in the wall.
Ought to be fun.
I'm thinking of making it a podcast so you can watch me and him go at it.
