Stormer's 67 Polara Build

Very cool. I don't know if you can call it a sleeper per say, because it is a Polara, but in this form yes it is a sleeper. When it has its shiny new black paint maybe not so much. I think you need to have some serious fun in it's current condition. People will say what the hell when you leave a light.

I'll try but it is a long weekend...

I know .. me too occasion14.gif

Well, Mike, that brings up something that I've been seriously considering...

Given the cool story of the $79 Earl Scheib paint job, I'm seriously thinking of clear coating it, put all the trim back on & drive her as-is.

Opinions?

I look at it like this the car earned its patina over the years. It deserves the right to keep it!! Plus its fun blowing the doors off of cars with something that looks old.

love the 6.1, clear coat it for now, you can always paint it later they say a project car is never finished anyway. are you going to take it to the strip to get any numbers, or street drive only. I know you said it has a high ratio in rear diff. any est on the 6.1's power?

Ross maybe just drive it as is and skip the clear coat .. for now anyway. I'm working on my convert mechanicals and have no plans to paint it even though the paint is 25 years old and cracked and hazed on the hood and decklid. Just plan to clean it and wax it periodically.

The problem is, Bryan, that all the trim is off the car right now & there's some surface rust under most of the trim. I'm gonna put all the trim back on whether I paint it or not.

Ahhhh I see

Looks pretty good in the video w/o it actually :)

whoops went back and looked again I see what you mean .. also able to see the first vid now

You have gone the distance, I would go ahead and finish it. You will want another car and it makes it just that much harder to go back and finish this one. Well at least in my experience.

Decided to dip the car black & then combine black pearl & black metal flake in a clear coat... Ordering from https://www.dipyourcar.com/Candy-Pearls/ Gonna try to do it myself.

I also put some decent rubber on the car today. I really don't like the staggered look & I thought that there was WAAAAY too much sidewall on the korean made hankooks on the car when I bought it. I went with Mickey Thompson's new Street Comp tire. Opinions will vary but i like them. Some pretty serious meat...
