Stormer's 73 Imperial Build

Wow. Now I feel like odd man out.

So it shall be.

WHAT?

I know I'm not here every day, but ouch. has2b... what now......?

My Dad owned pretty much everything, domestic wise and really liked his Packards and Chryslers over everything else.

My first car at 13 was my red '68 300 and many, many Mopars followed, I have owned a couple other mixed GM and a couple Ford trucks and a Jeep, and have worked on everything under the sun, and I will always be loyal to the older proven Mopars and am a firm believer that they build the best fullsize pickup, and rust issues and cheesy hardware that frequent our shop are always dominated by GM and Ford. The LH Chryslers are really good cars, drove one for 9 years with no issues.

Do you want a '72 Charger project? I have 2 triple black cars, both original AC cars.

You want all the criteria?

Dishonest people, piss me off more than anything, but dumb mixed with arrogance is right up there... Like strongly liberal Democrats for instance, that always carry all 3 traits.

I suspect we came out of the same mold.

Thanks for the offer, If I bought another car my wife would kill me....have to take some time and weight the pro's and con's,lol. Another mopar/Death vs. No more cars/life.........man that's a difficult choice.

If you get terminal cancer and then see what few are still left around you you know what people are true. Seen something like that close in the family and eversince my criteria has been raised a little.

I'm with you............a lot of them in the People's Republic of Maryland.

Well, I paid a visit to the chassis shop today. I attached some photos of what the front end setup will look like (with no bags in it).

BAD NEWS: The frame rails need to be narrowed so my suspension budget just doubled.

Interesting.............how long did you say this project is going to take?

It hurt my brain to think about everything you are planning to do to this car. Great start.

I have to give you kudos on following through on your plan in spite og all the flack. But I'm looking at the fabricated control arms with their undersized tubing and I smell epic failure in their future. But I sincerely hope you prove me wrong. I really do.

Have you seen the control arms on a 73 Imperial? What a joke. Somebody shoulda been fired over it. This setup is a major improvement over stock. C'mon, Commando, don't be silly.

What frame rails need to be adjusted?? The ones in the Imp, or the ones in the kit? And if it's the ones in the kit how does a bit of extra metal cost you double? The upper ad lower control arm assemblies don't change, and you said you can get a rack and pinion steering set-up wide enough...so where does the extra money go??

Just asking since something does not add up in my books.

The stock control arms are so short that there's no room to stick a bag in there. I thought I could just have a k member fabbed up but the control arms that I need to use for bags would have everything sticking out.

Sooo, the frame needs to be narrowed to allow for longer control arms & still stay within the fenders.

I think the pictures distort the actual size of this front end and frame. It looks like it would be too small to fit under a Dodge Colt.
