seems to long to get oil pressure after cold starts. after that have good o.p. anyone else have this happen ? the oil pan has ben pushed up slightly, [previous owner] could it be restricting the oil to the screen.

Just confirm, your oil pressure is good when the engine is warmed up? You checked that the oil level is good?

I'd try the easy stuffs first, change the filter. Then go after the pan/pickup/pump if it still takes a while to pump up. 2nd cold start of course.

If the pan is pushed up less than a 1/4" I would not be concerned. I agree change the filter get a good one your drain back valve is not working or non existing.

Try this filter...AAP and AZ have them on the shelves...

Well if the pans pushed up far enough that the oil pickup is bent back, you should put a used pan on and a new oil pump. Its not good to deprive any engine of oil for any amount of time.

have gauge and idiot light valves make noise till light goes out and that's when I get pressure on the gauge, will see how far the pan is bent, and will change oil with quality filter.

Hurry up. . . Would ya ?!?

How long have you owned your car? Has it had this issue from day 1 of your owning it? Did the previous owner keep maintenance records? Is the oil filter getting warm to hot after the engine has been run at normal operating temp?
If you don't have maintenance records you really don't know what kind of service the car has had. The engine may not have had good regular oil changes and maybe the engine is sludged up. The previous owner may have been a fan of Quaker State oil when they had an issue with sludge build up or maybe used a non-detergent oil. Change the oil with a good oil filter and diesel oil, most diesel oils have enough zinc for the flat cam and lifters. If you don't see an improvement you might want to pull a valve cover, this will give you an idea what kind of service your engine has had over the years. You should be able to read the casing numbers on the head without rubbing any buildup off. If you have to rub buildup off that is a good indication that your engine has sludge.
