Leaving aside styling considerations, IMHO electric vehicles have 3 main issues; battery life, charging time and range. If reports are accurate it appears that significant progress is being made on all fronts and within a generation most vehicles on the road will be electric.

The electric vehicles ARE coal powered unless your power company uses nuke or natural gas to generate power.

Not sure I would say they were visionary.....but they did have a vision. Of what I don't know....negative profit maybe?
However I am sure no one from GM probably ever went camping in one before they wrote the manual. If they did then they would have made some changes to how you should set it up.

Ah yes the time it takes to charge, lies, lies, lies, as we all know from past experience with rechargeable's.
Notice on the Tesla site they display charge speed in miles (distance) per hour to confuse us.
Approximate Tesla charge rate (varies by model)
115v standard wall outlet (overnight, slowest) One site said 4 days, LOL
240v standard wall outlet 10 to 10 1/2 hours for a complete charge
Wall connector Tesla charging station: 6 to 10 hours by model.
Tesla Superchargers (FREE?)
"can charge your car fully in an hour to an hour and a half."
Full to them is around 480 miles 80%.
"charging above 80% isn’t typically necessary."
A big debate as you know with charging as Li-Ion batteries reach 80% the last 20% must be done at a slow trickle charge so to not damage the battery.
I know that back in the days of NiCads as they didn't last very long, the trick was to jack up the voltage to juice them back to life.
Very dangerous and you had to keep a close eye on them to prevent overheating.
I heard a guy call into a local radio show yesterday who was bragging about his new Tesla. I learned two things from that guy. 1) he doesn't understand or know simple math. 2) a 60-70 mile drive takes 3 hours to recharge. And that's a new car only a few months old.

I suspect where you live makes a big difference, too. I live in a mountainous area. To pull a hill an electric motor is going to have to eat some battery. In a flat city where someone resides in that city it is probably not a bad idea. Anyone with an electric vehicle going out of town has to bum electricity off of someone. In other words, someone is paying for the electrons going through the chargers or electrical receptacles.

I would imagine so. Probably similar to any other engine. I don't remember where exactly he said he was from but Charlotte rings a bell, which is pretty flat for those not familiar.
As for the window stunt. That window reacted like any other window with a film applied. Defiantly not bullet proof by any means.
To me electric cars are for commuter traffic in a city environment. This "truck" is for Ridgeline owners not real truck owners, which actually utilizes their truck to haul and tow.
I'd hate to have to take two days to get to the Volo show from where I live, because it's just past the range of an EV. Glad it's not a possibility or a problem, and probably never will be for me. But I agree, city environment is best for them, and where I've seen the majority of them.
If you were forced for some reason to drive an electric car that two days to get there, there probably would not be a Volo show because the wacko's would have banned all those nasty old polluting cars and ordered them destroyed.

I just used that as an example, for what's becoming a familiar, frequent journey. I couldn't even go hunting up north.
