The beginning of a new life and a new build!

I am so damn confused.
When you put in the Mustang tank, you or going to reinstall the straps and then lower it into the location of the original tank?

The 1965-70 mustang fuel tank bolts to the bottom of the trunk floor and becomes part of trunk. my guess is he's gonna cut a hole, drop it in and bolt it down.:eek:s_dancing2:
And Im liking the ideas here... Customize the survivors!

You are correct. The hole is already cut in the trunk area and the tank is setting where it will be. One of the other good things about the mustang tank is you do not have to touch the tank in order to remove the sending unit from the tank. So changing sending unit is much easier.

At the risk of my noob showing, im gonna ask a stupid question. Is the fuel filler behind the license plate?

nevermind, I looked at the pictures and it obviously isn't... but that's what the mustang tank is set up for. Whats the workaround?

I am tossing up what I am going to do as far as the filler neck. I will likely make the provision in the side of the tank and use the factory filler neck stuff with the grommet just like the factory tank was done. I could also weld a threaded bung and threaded cap on the mustang filler neck. That way you can't siphon the fuel unless the trunk is open.

what about just turning the mustang tank 90 degrees to put the filler on the correct side?

It would put the filler too far forward for my liking and I don't want the tubing running through the trunk area. I like it under the car the way the factory stuff was. Hopefully my pics will show up pretty soon and I can get them posted up. I actually really like the way it is set up. Still have a little work to do on the mounting surface but nothing the welder and hammer can't fix.

Oh no,..not a hammer!! LMAO. Man I'm over here waiting on these pics. If it looks good and you get it done and it comes out good,..that's what I'm going to do. Seems like it will be a much nicer setup! BADASS MOPAR baby!!!

Kudos on not staying factory original on this one... so is the 383 staying? You could always swap in the engine from the slingshot...

As much of a small block guy as I am I think I am going to keep the 383. I will likely do a 435 or 496 stroker with the block and find some good 906 heads but I want to keep much of the car looking factory. Obviously I am going to put my touch on all.

lol when I was in high school, all my buddies wanted a tunnel ram and the biggest cam they could find, while I put in an RV cam and did burnouts. I dig the low-end torque

Here is some tank pics!

Very nice, did you come up with how it's going to be filled? Also, can you explain the pictures, first one looks likes it's in place, second is what you cut out? Third, no clue!

Yeah I guess I posted them backwards. The first one is in setting in the car, the second is a paint out line off of a template that I made for the cut out and the last one is the stock tank next to the new tank I just installed. I don't know at all why there is an engine shot in there. I didn't post that that I know of! :eek:ops:

I totally thought the second pic was of a removable panel that was already there lol. I was thinking it was a little too poetic
