Ok guys I'm a plane freak aswell what's the best between these 4 I know what mine is super marine spitfire

The P51, hands-down. It won the air war in Europe, by extending the time that fighter support was available to the US bombers. The Spitfires and others did not have the range, and had to turn back early. This left the bombers with no Allied fighter support, resulting in terrible losses.

The other planes you mention were all great aircraft in their own respect, but none turned the tide of the war like the Mustang.

Everybody's got there opinion that's what the forum is about but to me the spitfire won the Battle of Britain and stopped the Germans from invading Britain and we held our own until the usa gave us the assistance to end the war a make the world a better place the mustang was my fave american fighter and could probly out run anything that Europe had :eek:ccasion14:

The FW 190 was quite a plane too, and many others like the lightning etc but I'm with the Mustang also. Spits are beautiful

Focke wulf yea it was Bryan quite an underrated plane the 109 seemed to put it in the shade :yaayy:

Goering himself credited the Mustang, the first Fighter over Berlin For winning the war. He also reserved particular respect for those spitfires because of the battle of Britain. It should be noted the Mustang became a great Plane with the British Rolls Royce/Merlin engine. So it was a team effort!

This was from an airshow in 2007. There were over 100 in attendance. You will like this Big Blubber there was a guy here that was from Britain that had his plane shipped over in a cargo container and reassembled for the show.

The Air Corp wanted to cancel the Mustang with the Allison engine, as it was too slow and performed poorly. the Brits Bought them anyway, and converted them. Egg on our face I would say. That plane went from drawing board to prototype in 90 days. Try that today!

His plane ended up staying here in the States. Here it is a link about that plane.

What a great post and interesting reading I love articles on planes

Not to take away from the planes listed but I would have a really hard time deciding between an F4U Corsair or a P38 Lightning. Those are my two favorite WWII planes.
