The culprate

Bump for Will.

Thanks Matt. I've been checking and there are as many opinions as there are push rod suppliers. Roller cam or flat tappet cam...... bronze or hardened steel, OEM or light weight,
Jazebelle runs ok but I suspect I need one, Hard starting when hot, flutter on hard accl., now a quiet ticking from the right front of the engine. I seem to remember sometime long ago having that issue, and a push rod cured it.

Theres talk of a defective batch of these rods, (soft), being distributed by Mopar. Comp cams offers one but I'm leary of Comp cam products .... (Chinese). And Howards offers one but no one I could find had an opinion on them. A "seasoned" original would be best but I haven't located one yet.

I'm anxious to pull it out and take a look..... When it warms up.

Fascinating thread. My HT is having similar issues as described, and I discounted the fuel pump from being the issue since it appears to be new. Where exactly is this push rod located on the pump? I only remember there being a small lever that rides on the cam.

That's how it works on a small block. The B & RB engines have a rod that fits in a bore and operates the fuel pump lever off the camshaft. Remove the fuel pump and the rod will slide down. There is an access hole at the bottom of the housing to remove and replace the push rod if needed.
