"The Driver"

LOVE the Rockford files....

Adam12 had a 70 polara convertible make a guest appearance...Silver with buckets....nice car

Been watching "ADAM-12" on Netflix a lot lately. Corny as hell, but love seeing the cars in the scenery. As well as the belvedere they drive.

there is an episode that has a 70 Polara silver rag, blk buckets/column AT in it..........there were not many of those made, I wonder if it is still around.

also plenty of other great mopars in that show.

Non Mopar but I love the Rockford files for many reasons and one is those patented Garner back up, hit the brakes while shifting into forward gear, and pealing out down the road w/o any loss of momentum .. just fluid motion.
That move is in fact called a Rockford.

Best old TV show for C-body spotting is The Name Of The Game which frequently had Mopars in the seasons from 68 to 71. In 68, Gene Barry, the main character drove a silver 68 Polara 500 and an Imperial. In 69 there was a silver 69 Polara 500 vert, and at least three different 69 Chrysler 300 convertibles. In 70 the main character switched back and forth between a convertible Cadillac, convertible 300, convertible Ford and convertible 300. In 71 the main character drove a 71 300 coupe. Most of the other cars on the show were C-bodies as well.
For those unfamiliar with the show, heres a montage of the first season, including a glimpse from a chase between the 68 Polara convertible and a 68 T&C wagon (at about the 54 second point). For those with cable, The Name of the Game is currently shown on the COZI TV channel.

Yep most of these movies were pretty low budget, Bullitt being the exception. What about the Getaway another Steve McQueen classic. Here's a few photo's of the original soundtrack albums from V.P. and Bullitt. Great artwork. album column 003.jpgalbum column 004.jpgalbum column 005.jpgalbum column 006.jpg

Speaking of Bullitt, I found a copy on DVD at my local FYE store Wednesday evening, ended up paying $2.50!

Good score! A little Vanishing Point trivia, the guy wearing the leather hat at the end of the movie is the director.

i wish we had a drive-in that showed older movies......but now that i have this on DVD I can get rid of one more VHS tape!

It was interesting in the Drive In two summers ago........

I love drive-ins but haven't been for a few years and none that show car movies or classics or anything. You have that where you live or in conjunction with a car show? I know they were showing two lane black top and something else at the Mopar Nats one time .. not sure if the drive in is still there.

We have a Drive In 30 miles south, in Vineland NJ...... (you know, the city they mention in Eddie and the Cruisers.....) Once a year they have a car show and show a classic movie. American Graffiti, , Bullitt, Its a Mad Mad mad mad world, Smokey and the Bandit, cant recall the others they had.

The Cumberland County Drive In in Pennsylvania, out near Marks house had shown Christine one year in conjunction with the salute to Christine at the All Chrysler Nationals....

The forward look club usually plays a car movie and also the unearthing that belvedere in Oklahoma not till after dark though.
