Treasure trove of 60 barn-finds in French castle

Thanks for sharing!

If I had the money, I'd buy the whole collection and let some of the cars remain untouched. Some I'd restore, one by one.

Anyway, just looking all of this gives me creeps, so I'd love to have it all on my back yard!

Facel-Vega = Chrysler HEMI engine
Talbot = Owned by Chrysler for over 20 years

In pic #44, there is a 1911 Renault (car on the right). I saw one many years ago in the former Harrah's collection in Reno. What a truly beautiful automobile! For those movie trivia buffs, it was a '11 Renault in the cargo hold of the Titanic that what's-his-name and what's-her-name got laid in.

Wow thanks for sharing that is an amazing collection. I don't see a plane ticket to Paris for the auction in my future. :) This auction with be televised by someone I am sure. I will be curious what the missing Ferrari will go for, it hurts my head to even think of it.

Wow that is huge my peterbilt truck engine is only 855 cid over 6 cylinders that's over double the size and one third less cylinders.

The Beast of Turin video is cool, thanks for posting it. Some neat iron in France, I don't know what half of it is, but its cool!

Photos covering the rebuilding of a 100 year old land speed record car - the FIAT S76 - also known as 'The Beast of Turin' or 300hp FIAT. At over 28 litres, the four cylinder engine is the largest ever purpose-built car engine (there are cars with larger aero engines). Two cars were built. This car uses the chassis from one and the engine of the other. The gearbox and bodywork have been made using original drawings and photos. I'm also making a film about the story of the car and the reconstruction.

Some Info from the Website of the photographer.

You can actually SEE the exhaust valves as this beast runs! What a work of art! Can you imagine driving this, with a marginally-muffled exhaust, on a public road in 1914? Horses would scatter, women would wet their drawers, and men would wish they had one-tenth of the balls that the driver had.

They pulled all the cars out for auction. Here is the Gallery! And here are a few cars in detail with estmated prices!

Some cool old cars there!

Watched that beast of Turin video a couple more times. The guy hand crank starts a 28 litre engine on a 1/4 of a crank, and engineers today are playing with tone wheel pulses to get new cars to start quick. Ha!
