US Tax Payer ROI

IF I were heading an American company with that much heritage I would rather see it die than become owned by the Chinese and the Communists.

I just typed a whole dissertation but had to delete it.....I cant take it!!

Good for the company making a decision that will hopefully keep them economically viable for the foreseeable future. While it may suck some... may lose their jobs, at the the rest of the folks employed there still have their jobs. For now. I guess if they weren't over paying... they wouldn't have had to make the decision they did.
and there it is ...............
The free market is not driven by those who do it cheaper, it's driven by those who do it BETTER. Find your niche & leverage it. My sympathy to the low skill workers who get phased out. Better find a skill...
I understand what you are saying. However you arent understanding or dont want to acknowledge what 67 Monaco has said to be the truth.
You wouldn't understand. You have no future....
And there it is...
if you actually dare to look in the mirror without blinders or rose colored glasses.

Like rats leaving a sinking ship ?
They just announced pulling all the Chinese Chevrolet crap off the German market leaving it for their German GM branch of Opel. Only the "special interest" cars like Camaro and Corvette, Cadillac left. European and especially German buyers will not become accustomed to these Chinese Chevrolets.
That being said Volkswagen and others already have plants over there as well where they're building the regular models for Chinese market.

Isn't the issue that a true multi-national being subsidized by only the US tax payer? Should it also have been a multi-national bailout. I think the Canadian government may have thrown money at GM too.

I thought you didn't want to debate the union issue? Don't get mad when you're button gets pushed cuz it has your fingerprints on it.

Just wait and see how much of the American businesses left goes under or leaves the U.S. by time Obama leaves office.

Either you become a world automotive company or you go out of business. That is the reality today. You do not get economies of scale without huge volumes and that means competing in the largest automotive sales nation in the world - China. If we had not bailed out Chrysler and GM, along with Canada's help, our economy now would be a whole lot worse. These same moves are already taking place at Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mercedes, BMW and VW/Audi too. The same stupid video could be made about these other big companies as well, not a bailout, but a tag line such as Is BMW, VW, Mercedes leaving Germany after all the investment in these companies by the German government and becoming a Chinese company? It is the U.S. developed products and sometimes in association with other operations around the world, that brings the good jobs here and makes our economy strong. Just erecting an assembly plant by Toyota in the U.S. does not help the economy nearly as much as having GM and Chrysler effectively headquartered here. GM and Chrysler are both now manufacturing world class products thanks to the bankruptcy that cleaned out the tired old arrogant men and cleared the way for a competitive management team at GM and took care of some real problems at Chrysler too (bad management and Mercedes taking their money and then dumping them). This kind of journalism just takes aim at the negatives in an out of balance overall big picture. The same crap that Fox News does, and just gets people stirred up and hating - without really understanding the whole story. I personally am really tired of yell journalism and all the negativism going on out there. It doesn't help.

The propaganda is so thick one direction or the other that it's impossible to know what's true. It's all bullshit.

And we all watched the video and this forum on our Chinese made devices!!!!!!! We are all to blame!

Ditto!!!!!!!!!!!!

What does this have to do with unions? There YOU go again... You SO want to jump on that bandwagon. Keep your eyes on the road, man.
I never mentioned anything about unionism or non-unionism. Has nothing to do with it.
You love to jump on that bandwagon because I am a Teamster. My being in the union has nothing to do with it. But you relieve yourselves of any of the burden of blame by holding up a red herring that insures diversion and and deflecting any mud on your face by going on fake offensive. Which is a very unintelligent way to make a point.
This is an issue where you have to look in the mirror and listen to yourselves talking out of both sides of your mouths thinking you can justify your thinking. Everyone.

The next time it becomes absolutely mandatory for you to achieve happiness because you broke your balls earning the money to buy that $3,000.00 stereo, remember that the only way you can piss away $3,000.00 "because it's your right" is because that stereo used to cost $6,000.00. Make it cheaper so I can consume more. I'm already fat but I have to get fatter or I will not be happy. Absolutely nobody needs a $3,000.00 stereo. You would do less damage to our long term security by putting a thousand dollar bill in an envelope and just mail it directly out of the country. You just prevented $2,000.00 from leaving the country and your life has not been made worse by one iota.

Cliff notes? I can't watch the video from the rig.
U.S. taxpayer pays $5,000.00 in taxes to U.S. government.
U.S. government hands over $5,000.00 to U.S. business.
U.S. business spends $5,000.00 in another country to make stuff for the U.S taxpayer.
U.S. company happy. U.S. government happy. Foreign country happy. U.S. consumer happy. They got their $5,000.00 back with $15,000.00 Chevy Aveo instead of $20,000.00 Chevy Aveo.
U.S. taxpayer takes $5,000.00 savings on cheaper Chevy Aveo and buys foreign stereo equipment and bitches U.S. companies don't make stereo in U.S.
