If you crunch the numbers on how many hours you put in to make your own and now multiply that by lets say $15 @hr. Maybe you'll understand why they're asking $8 a pop for them. Good Luck

2hrs yesterday morning while watching with the tv kids in Fusion 360. Free Hobbiest license for Fusion 360. And one of those hours was watching a Fusion 360 Tutorial on Youtube to learn the basics of the tool as I have never used the tool before. No, I have no understanding why I should pay 8.99 for a grommet - $70+US (for 8) in total plus shipping. I have no problem paying top dollar for NOS parts or original parts but I will not be gouged for plastic crap from China. I'm not cheap - I'm just not going to restore this car by throwing my wallet at it as hard as I can. If I do that, at some point I'll resent the car. And ultimately I can't afford to do that.

And I'm not responding to you to be combative - I'm just want to make sure that the actual time that went into this so far is represented in this string so it's a resource for others contemplating this path as part of their restoration. Now, in saying that - I have not finished this project - and I have yet to print anything. I am not completely clear on those costs but I will post them when I know.

Cheers,

Angus

I know your not and I'm not trying to be a schmuck, I see your point, and you see mine. At least we can somewhat agree that you spending the time to make some part as compared to the person that's already done that for you. Someone has to pay for that persons time and effort to make a part that you need, and here we/you are doing just that. Let us know the time and the labor rate you desire to figure how much these will cost you in the end. Good Luck.

Yes. Nigel is the proprietor, and he's a stand up C body guy. No question, order from him. He's a member here too, just too busy to check in a lot.

FWIW, I just searched for the part number that Hoffman lists and found the best deal for shipping etc.

$2.25USD AX005

Hoffman makes a lot of stuff that the vendors sell.

Hoffman's Winners Circle Ignition Wire Brackets

Good price - however, Angus is in Winnipeg Manitoba, so cross border shipping is still a concern.

They are a wholesaler only, they don't sell to the Gen. public. It says so in Large Red at the top of the page! They do list the retailers they deal with. Still, Good Luck

Sometimes it is just fun to build things because you can or want to learn some new skills.

No kidding. Did you read my entire post? You love to tell people to search and I just said to search for their part number for the best deal. Never said that you can purchase from them.

I recently got some of the reproduction being sold (probably the same everywhere), they didn't stay on the valve cover, the groove portion was not sized correctly. I dug out some originals and they fit snugly.
This seller has ones that fit perfectly (my car only uses 4 so I only needed 1 set)

Alan

I probably have a couple dozen used ones in my tool box.

I wouldn't mind taking some of those off your hands if you wouldn't mind selling them. I was thinking about buying the repops, but kinda felt like you found out that just something wouldn't fit right. I reverted to using rubber grommets from Ace hardware. Not right...but they worked

Let me know if your interested.

Here is a real MoPar guy that owns a lot of low mileage original cars. Owns, restores and re-pops needed items.
