Talking with a buddy about the valve springs I need to accommodate the cam that I'm putting in the 413. He says I should go with street hemi springs, so I call mancinis yesterday and they sell 2 kinds , comp springs at 90 a set and the mopar performance 160.The budget is getting tight and Id like to save money were I can. With that said does anybody on here know if the comps are worth considering.

Not knowing your build, but I can tell you that Competition Cams valve springs are widely popular. They make a beehive & a conical spring too that have their advantages. If you get either of those you may need the retainer to go with it. A regular performance coil spring is fine for a street/strip car with a hydrolic flat tappet. Also I have dealt with Mancini a lot & they have always done me right & sugested parts when I was unsure.

The build is a 72 413,906 heads, stock rotating assembly, chromemoly rings, ful grove mains, highflow mopar perf oil pump, 284/484 mopar perf cam, weiand dual plane intake,650 edelbrock. Ive heard alot of good things about mancinis,so far their service has been great. I got my oil pump, main, rod and motor mounts from them. Ill probly call them Monday and ask what they think. Thanks bob!

You might want a bit more carb. Againg not knowing your intentions. I had a Charger with a stock 525 on it & bolted on an Eddy 750 & it woke that car up. Like bolted on 50 hp. Yep Mancini understands budgets & Mopars. They will help you.

Its going to be a carshow cruiser. I wanted a really nice sounding cruiser. I thought about going with the 750 but after a few discussions with a few buds on my intentions i decided on 650 for cruising.

I used the 911 springs on my brother in laws 440 they seemed a little to big for the stock retainers ended up using Mopar performance retainers because the rocket scientist I talked to from tech suggested titatium retainers? Working good with a few thousand miles and at least a dozen passes

Come monday a mancini i will go! Ill be sure to get the retainers too. Knowing me the way i do, the cruiser aspect of the engine and drivetrain probly wont last long. Good thing the funds aren't unlimited! <--did i just say that? ?

Me nether. The labor cost the same using bargain basement parts as it does to buy quality ones. It's your call... I build mine to last. No its not cheap... but nether are tow bills.

I would go with the what M/P recommends for that cam, if you match the spring rates they suggest and use a quality manufacture then you can price shop

Im going with mancinis recommendation. The comps. Comp is reputable company last time I checked and so is mancinis . I'm doing all the building other than whats done at the machine shop. Thanks for the input gents!
