Walmart's "Made in America"

Yeh, we are driving ourselves straight to ruination with wanting stuff cheaper and cheaper, faster and faster. I'll be the first to plead guilty.

I haven't been in a Walmart store in over 4 years now. My big problem with them is what they do to the small town america local communities economys.

They like to locate their stores just outside the communitys tax base.... then negetiote a big tax brake with the state and go on to rape local business with cheap imported product.

The thing that kills me is that folks can't see that happening soon enough and gather around in the Walmart parking lot and complain about why their towns business district is boarded up.

In four years i've been able to locate whatever I need outside of Walmart.... Maybe cost a bit more but better quality and I love dealing with a friendly, appreciative local merchant.

As stated in the article, if it's cheaper to change to US made products they will switch. Probably going to be mostly low income jobs that will be created where employees will need more than one job to survive. I wouldn't expect anything like patriotism or socially responsible behaviour behind such actions.

Money drives everything.... If it becomes more profitable to make it here, it'll get made here. Until that happens, desire to buy American made really doesn't mean squat in the eyes of business.

i guess wal-mart won't have anything to sell because hardly anything is made here anymore. I have been to my local one only 2 times in the past 1.5 years, only because it was convenient and during off hours where other places weren't open. It's filthy, to say the least, and as I said before i'll be damned if i'm going to stand in line for 15-20 mins to hand you my $$. several years ago they listed the top 10 billionaires, and 5 of them were Sam's kids. They have gotten so big there are factories in china that manuf exclusively for them, plus they have several freighters a day that come into ports fully loaded with stuff just for their stock.

One more thing - they also push hard to get into communities, including filing lawsuits when town councils or supervisors vote to not allow them to build, and they often win. This is our fault though, our lust for cheap junk has killed our downtowns, many are now ghost towns. And everyone wonders where the manuf jobs in this country went.

Holy Moly, I have been on this soapbox for 8 years now, nice to see others on board for change instead of the usual excuse of, They dont make anything here anymore. Because that is an outright lie, all it takes is some research :sFl_america2:

It's the same here in Canada too....all the no mind Sheepole out there are controlled by the TV and Media and "HAVE TO HAVE" their trinkets and baubles. And every 6 month the magazines and the TV stars change there wardrobes and the sheepole follow blindly and have to have those too. They want their stuff cheap and have no clue to how their purchasing of cheap crap affects their own country. Makes me sick!

I try my best to stay out of Walmart. As others have said, you can usually find what you need at a smaller local merchant.

It never fails. I go into Walmart and I'll see a minority teen mother with two multi-racial kids that are collecting welfare and her punk teen boyfriend wearing the latest in "gangstuh style" clothes is checking out the stereos...
ARRRGGhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Let me try to get this right. Of all the terrible ills in the world, this is what causes you the most concern? Really?

Yup, they are there for sure, byproducts of a politically correct system gone insane..........but first which one in the picture is the radical muslim?

I see Muslims but no Radicals.
No diff than the Irish and the bloody IRA. I don't connect the two in either case.
I don't go into O'Reily's Pub and see IRA members.
I don't go into Khoury's Middle East Market and see Radicals.
I'm Greek Orthodox married to a Jewish gal. Look at our pic and then tell me what you think.
