Walter P. Chrysler Museum will be shut down end of this year

Matt, I will definitely be in Detroit... early morning on Friday, December 21st. I'm looking forward to meeting you and seeing your shop, cars, and the Walter P. Museum!!!

We'll keep in touch on it then. Will you just be passing through?
had a club meeting last night and one of the members works there. The collection will not be broken up at this time, just becoming private as the place couldn't keep itself in the black.

Matt, slight change of plans, we'll be coming on Thursday, December 20th for sure. It's 560 miles to Detroit from my house. It's another 550 miles to Green Bay. I'll stay overnight in a motel and head to Green Bay early Friday morning. I have to be in Green Bay by noon Friday. Any recommendations on what city I should get a reservation? Thanks!

There are a few hotels right around here(my shop) I'd look in Troy if I were you. It's very close to me and the museum + some decent restaurants. If you need some help or further suggestions let me know.

Thanks Matt! I'll search and find a reservation today. Is your contact info the same? Mine is the same. I'll PM my cell number to you just in case.

Yes, all info is same. Can't wait to meet you, who will you be with?

Just me and my brother Mike. He's excited about going too. I surprised him with a plane ticket and he went crazy when I told him we were making a side trip to Detroit. My whole family is Mopar nuts.

Detriot is a GREAT place to visit for a car guy.
I miss the car culture there....But not the winters.

Depending on time......there might be another Museum (name starting with Henry) I want to see while I'm in Detroit. If the Chrysler Museum wasn't closing I would wait for spring and warmer weather.

Yes it is. I'll take a picture of it if we have time to make it to Ford Museum.

Thats a pretty tall order.... The Henry ford museum is a two day venture in itself if you want to take everything in. And the adjoining Greenfield Village is world class and an additional day. THEN...... you have to tour the truck plant at the Rouge.

anybody have a list of the vehicles they have? should be some real beauties.

Will, you are correct! I looked at the Ford Museum website. It's massive. I would probably just take a look at the main exhibits at the Ford Museum. I don't know when I'll be back to Detroit so I have to at least get my foot in the door. Too close to pass it up. You're right...it would take 3 full days to see the whole Ford experience. I'll have to plan another trip down the road. I'm one of those guys that will at least take advantage of the situation and not end up ten years from now and say........damn, I was in Detroit and had the opprtunity....drove past it......and can kick myself in the *** for not at least stopping for a few hours and see part of it.

I grew up near Dearborn and have spent many hours through out the years roaming around that museum just marveling at the exibits. Theres something for everyone there.

I am a student of history of the industrial age and am very thankful to Henry Ford for his insite for preservation of all things we came to take for granted.

Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village should be concidered a destination rather then just a place to stop by if in the area. The entire family will take a lifetime memory of that place with them. Detroit in all it's turmoil is still a fastinating place.

OH..... And if your into music..... Your in for a BIG treat.

History is bunk says Henry Ford - New York Times, Oct 28 1921.

He was a bit contradicting.
