Was just sideswiped

How do you handle the situation where your wife sideswipes your truck pulling out of the driveway and drives off...

As tactfully as you can... if you want life to stay comfortable. I noticed the damage, paint color at work... asked around, put the managers on the hunt... weekend at home and noticed the in laws vehicle she was driving had my color on it... pissed didn't even begin to describe it... after several days of searching and never being home during daylight hours...

Not the first time she failed to inform me of something I wouldn't like...

Gosh my tongue has scars...

Good luck with this. It's going to be a tough one though and I'm not sure that "boxing her in" is such a good idea. The cops may frown on that.

Just recently, I had a guy in a rental car back into my Mercury. It took me 6 weeks to get a settlement.

Just tell the cops it's an ordinary Citizens Arrest since she committed a crime by attempting to flee

To answer some questions, they didn't issue a ticket on the spot, but said once the report was completed she would probably get a hit and run or careless driving. I of course called my insurance company, they can't hold a collision that was unavoidable and not my fault against me. I only carry PL/PD so it may take a while and I may have to get a couple of quotes but ultimately her insurance company will write me a cheque and it will probably be around the initial purchase price of the car. Thanks for the compliments on the wheels, they're 85 fifth ave 15 x 7's with 235R75's I'll post some pics of her in better times in the future under this thread.
And great story Fury440, luckily I have never had a bad insurance expirience.

I'm glad it's working out...
I can not swear I would react well if the moron who just hit me started **** like that. And the husband arriving on scene would have been welcome to go sit off to the side and shut up...nothing else.

Such a disrespectful *****.."this wreck shouldnt even be on the road" ...clearly we can see what her atitude is about your lovely Chrysler. Just for that alone....go to your family doctor, claim you have soft tissue pain and damage in your back from the collision, get xrays, mri scans, then slap her with a pain and injury lawsuit (lawyers love these kind of suits..theyll pick it up on contingency basis since there is always a good sized payday at the end for the plaintiff...you).
Do this just to teach this ignorant idiot a lesson since she had the gall to try and run from the results of her own incompetence.
Someone needs to teach this person how to respect for the property of others whether she agrees with thier valuation of or not.

Let her her go batshit and wait until the cop turns to you and says, Well?
Then just talk calmly.

I'm a pro at this. People loved that my trailer was a 53' rolling billboard of a multi-gabillion dollar rich corporation.
I'd be waiting at a red light, an accident across the street would be my fault.

I had one in a double left turn lane (did not know it yet) 2 lights later a woman comes up to pass side of truck says pull over I hit them, humm. I go down the road a bit and we pull over in a wide area and 2 old ladies get out of a car with a scuff on front bumper telling me I hit them, oh-oh. I ask where and where on my vehicle one of them points to my trailer tires, okay so I explain that front of theirs rear of mine no my fault but let's exchange info and no one is hurt right. No we are fine but you have to pay, I say let's exchange and about our day, no-no-no you hit us you have to pay, like I was going to whip out a thousand bucks on the shoulder of the road. I told her to get your info and we will exchange, back at my truck she walks up wanting to know what I'm going to do about her car, nothing and I'm calling police. Turns out when cops get there she tells cop the story not in front of me that the trailer changed lanes in the left turn (well duh) and hit her. Turns out she started following the tractor and forgot about the trailer until it returned to it position behind my tractor. Never heard a word further.

True Confessions:
(Now I reveal my true inner evil)
Scenario: Sitting at lights of 4 way (tight) intersection waiting to take left turn.
Sitting at light on street coming from left is bimbo stopped way past stop line in path of my left turn. Experience has taught me courtesy results in total snafu.
Course of action: Make left turn as fast as possible swinging trailer over her hood, and stop at the last second with the trailer across her hood and an inch away from her windshield.
Results: After crawling out from under the dash and having shat her thong, she learns the purpose of the stop line and as the North Koreans put it, been "re-educated" and backs up to where she should have stopped in the first place.

Hate me if you must. I learned that pulling up, stopping, waiting for them to back up results in a standoff where traffic gets tied up for five minutes and she refuses to move. I'm actually doing the world a favor.

We were sitting in traffic in Oklahoma (of all places) and the lanes were pinching down from two to one and onto the shoulder. Ahead is a tractor trailer and he is inching over just as he should.

An elderly woman comes up on the right shoulder and sticks the nose of her car under the tractor trailer. The truck pulls up and narrowly misses her. She pulls up again and this time the trailer tires catch her and knock the left mirror off.

Of course, the driver doesn't know this and some *** clown behind me starts yelling about how "that truck just hit her" and he runs up and tells the driver and tells him how careless he is etc. The truck pulls over.

I get out, hand the driver my business card with cell phone and tell him that if there's a problem, I saw the whole thing and it wasn't his fault.

A couple hours later, I get a call... Turns out the cops sided with the driver (surprising) and yelled at her that it was time to stop driving. He said he could not believe that I bothered to stop and thanked me all over the place.

I just wanted to see the bimbo

This doesn't happen here. All medical is covered by the provincial health insurance, and we have a cap on soft tissue injuries. We are not a litigious society - yet - but working our way there.

Yep I hear that. That's exactly how it works here. People F-up and then want to blame you for their incompetence. I was a defendant in such a case. It was a total nightmare. Once someone yell's "soft tissue damage" you better just settle up so you can move on.

Had a guy argue with me that he was not over stop line and I should be able to make the turn and he was not moving, told him that was okay I have a bed and a TV right here if you want to wait it out.

He moved, when I disappeared behind the curtain.

Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Tried being nice to these people overshooting the stop line by two car lengths.
Like Dave said above, they just sit there and go, Fluck you.
You wait. And you wait. And you wait.
So I would pop the air brakes, put my feet up on the dash, and light a cgarette.
Looking like I was going to decapitate them was my final Ace up my sleve.
People are not nice..

Stan you got out before the smart phone took over. I will now take any aggressive driver, motorcyclist any type, or people in classic cars over everybody else just because those 3 are probably not tweeting or posting to face book.
