In another thread, another member and I exchanged a couple of posts about how we comment on C Bodies for sale that get posted here.

I have NO agenda, NOT campaigning to change the site. Say and do whatever you want .. the owners ultimately decide policy here. Its a general discussion question, so that's why its here in this forum. :)

People come to FCBO by choice when marketing their cars, OR we get them here by posting their public auctions/listings. What do they leave/stay here thinking about the experience? What a buncha [fill-in-the-blank] on FCBO?

Its been observed we "talk down" C bodies as to appearance and price -- bash the car and/or its price, so we are kinda dissing the cars we love/own driving DOWN prices?

It goes the other way too. We have been observed to "talk up" some cars we see if they are really nice and/or underpriced, so we prop up artificially HIGH prices for C's?

Sometimes we stay on focus and get it "just right". Pros, cons get kicked around, and then we mostly see the car the same way as to its price and quality -- and the market saw/sees it the same way in the end.

So as an advertised group of unapologetic, unabashed C-body lovers, do we affect the market prices/public perception of C-bodies, including our very own cars, to some degree based on our collective commentary here?

Survey Question (my LAST ONE :). How Should FCBO Members Comment on C-Bodies for Sale Posted Here?

Five possible survey answers: Assuming we stay honest as is our trademark approach here: (A) only say something mostly good, (B) only say something mostly bad, (C) call out good and bad as you see them, (D) don't say anything either way if not a party to/interested in the deal, or (E) it doesn't really matter either way .. our opinions don't count for that much?

Survey runs 14 days, five responses, you can only vote once, you can only pick one response, you can see the results without voting, and you can change your vote later.

Examples (pictures preferred as always) to make your vote are welcome. And let's again try to avoid "making it personal" in a negative way -- e.g., that moron did .., this idiot said .., etc., or personally going after members for our views. Don't want the thread to hit the skids.

But, "Atta boy/girl" shoutouts are always cool. And we always try take care of our members here! :)

By the way, my vote is C. Call balls and strikes as I see them.

For example, back to this car. It was advertised at $12,500. I thought it was worth every penny. Didn't see anything I would have objected to. It sold, but dunno the price.

And I would have fought for it up to that number had I been a buyer.

out there now for $11,250. 1978, so a 400 car.

I'd chase this one into the 8's if I had to have it. It's really nice though, and I think most of us think that's the case, but it would hard to get five digits for it.

Discussion looks balanced on this one.

this one? Its a bit polarizing.

I am more on the "what is could be" side. Not as is but I could do something with it if I was a buyer.

My thought is the crusher and DD guys don't have it .. somebody is trying to help it live on. :)

They put a stop to for sale ad comments over at FABO. In a way I can see it being good when people point stuff out that not everyone will notice but on the other hand I think it shouldn't matter if you are not the seller or buyer.

Half the cars for sale that I would want are too far away anyways so I just stay quiet and retreat to my garage and pout for about 30 seconds and move on LOL

hmm.. that's interesting. Know the logic for that?

I think they said there were too many negative comments. The site owner said people have the right to price their stuff at any price they want even if it is beyond reasonable logic.

I think same owner(s) as this site right? if so, things musta got really bad over there at FABO.

I don't see that happening here ..

If a member is selling thier car on this board there should be no negative comments, if it's just a car that's been grabbed off the net and the owner is not on this board then it's both no holds barred.

Dunno if this is for sale or not. I googled a 2015 sale to find something old. This 1975 New Yorker came up, 72K miles, asking price $13,000.

If i was asked about that price, I'd answer "too high for me, but hope they get it"

From this we can surmise that the board is a business and not here as a public service that allows hobbyists to speak freely. The board owner therefore is likely afraid sellers will be intimidated and won't come here to post if their cars get a critical reception. The logic is flawed. IMHO one of the attributes that attracts new members here (aside from the helpful and informative members) is the open and discussions that occur here and far out weighs the few that may have their delicate sensibilities offended and leave in a huff.

That is probably the right way to do it. The compromise could be handled like (gasp) Moparts and others do it, and that is a separate section for ebay and craigslist type sales.

I find our threads on cars that are for sale quite entertaining and informing. I also think that a member selling a car deserves a break from too much criticism. I think I'd be really annoyed if I were selling a car and it got picked apart here. Especially if the opinion was incorrect or was aimed at me personally.

Honestly, while I just offer that idea up for discussion, I would be fine with leaving things alone.

It is a business.

There are a lot of differences between them and us. Most of the "for sale" stuff we see here are Ebay and Craigslist stuff. The other boards have more members selling parts than we do. They also have and need a lot more moderation than we do too.

Makes sense. I guess Joey knows what good guys we are .

22K mile,440, two-owner car. ebay auction (it got roughed up here acouple months back). $12,100 and didn't sell.

Dunno what it was REALLY worth/sold for eventually. My point, $12K seems light by 2-3K to me for it IF this beauty checked out.

More than that and I'd be out .. but it WAS a nice car to me and worth $15K to ME.
