What are you working on today??

The Newport is easily the lowest maintenance classic I've had in quite a few years, so I'm driving it to get an 18mm wrench to finish the front shocks on my 2020 F250.

Giving the 87 Fifth Ave a front-end lineup. Excellent scooter car.
With mostly my wife's sewing talents, she made a bench seat cup holder, block of foam and 2 new empty quart paint cans. the levi strap has velcro in back to tighten

Very nice.
I too need drink holders.
But I did paint the faded black wheels a shiny new black today. The plan is to use chrome acorn wheel nuts on the new black painted wheels and call it good.
Today's home alignment job is a huge success.

After installing the big set of gates from a few pages back the client was ready for me to replace the others on the property so here is the next set. There’s one more single gate that is ready to install but it’s under a badly rotting pergola that they want me to replace so I figured I’d get that work done first.

Just finishing up on this corner display cabinet for a different client. It’s spalted maple that I’ve had in the shop for a year just waiting for the right piece to use it for. This one is going into the dining room of a new log home so I figured it’d be perfect.
The top picture is finished except for the glass which will be the restoration style wavy bubble glass and there will be lighting in it as well.
This was fun to make.

Nice work as always. I love the woodgrain too.

Started the day with the intention of replacing some plug wires, on my winter beater Jimmy, that a squirrel chewed through. Ended the day with everything over the inner fenders removed, that could be, and the inner fenders removed. I got side tracked looking at the rust and before I knew it the inner fenders were pulled and I found more rust on the firewall where it meets the floor. Now I am looking for new (used) inner fenders and I have to fix the floor. I also still haven't done the spark plugs and wires, though that's going to be much easier now. Also going to do the Spider injectors and see if I can make the 4wd system reliable agian, I think it has some vacuum leaks.

That's as far as I got today. This doesn't get to kick the Newport out of the garage, so when a thunderstorm rolls through the day is pretty much done. Also waiting for a gasket kit for the intake plenum, throttle body and injector body.
Also think I might add a new cap and rotor, coil and serpentine belt to the shopping list tomorrow.

Matt you have bad *** carpenter and finish work skills.

The other day, I installed a solar powered lamp across from the power pole closest to the house, opposite it.
There’s two more to do, out towards the road.

It looks nice and has been on all night for a couple of days now.
I decided to put a cement base in them and poured the second base today.

All 3 lamps installed. I have to go back and pour the Qwikkrete base for the one closest to the house, and may do that tonight. Wife had a wonderful idea and we both love it!

Landscaping around the house getting ready for my youngest daughter’s HS graduation. Rainy spring made for wild growth and a mad dash to the finish line. This is 2 weekends worth, sore back, knees, elbows annd shoulder but enjoying the results. Let’s hope the bunnies stay away from the plants. lol.

Oh yeah - Happy Father’s Day to you all.
