What? no fridge with Labatt
There's a fridge in the other room. And there is never Labatt in my house. OV, whiskey, and scotch only.
Got the 300L covered up and put away for the winter. Same as the others with a California cover with a disposable plastic cover.
Before doing that, I pulled the radio so I can send to Gary Tayman for conversion to modern internals. That will make the rear end quieter... LOL.
And front speaker came out to be replaced too.
While I was there, the clock needed some attention... I went to set it and the little knob wasn't attached and came off in in my hand.
I pulled it apart, and there's a spring loaded gear that had come off. After one missed attempt where the spring and gear went flying, I got it together.
You can see the hole.
I forgot to take a pic, so I stole one from @Zymurgy 's post about repairing clocks and added the yellow arrow to show the gear in place.
A little polish on the plastic and back in business... It'll go back in when I get the radio back.

I bought a 5 pack of the largest size.
I dug my original continuity tester out of my basement. A little corrosion, but will clean up nicely.
I got this in 1988 when I worked at a John Deere dealership. Dual purpose tool. Flashlight and a continuity tester. If there is continuity the flashlight bulb lights up. I am wondering if I can find a LED bulb to fit instead of the regular bulb. Used to suck down the battery pretty quickly.

The VW New Beetle strikes again.
Headlight assemblies are toast. Fogged plastic lenses and other assorted aged out plastic parts.
The assemblies are available for $100 each. BUT, the stupid design plastic retaining lock rings that hold the whole assembly in are only available used in various states of unusable condition. They're all busted in one way or another.
I'm probably going to caulk them in place and call it good.
It doesn't look like this old 2004 Beetle car is going to make the cut. It just never ends. One stupid VW idea after another. They get an idea in their head and throw a batch of band aids at it to get it to work.

My Dad had one of those. It didn't say John Deere on it and I'll bet it's older than I am. Thinking about it, I'll have to look.... I may have it.
I had my power steering gear box and pump rebuilt from Steer & Gear and today got the chance to go for a cruise. I went with the OEM stock feel and couldn't be more happier. No more leaks and really nice confident feel at the wheel. Video taken on back roads heading towards the historic town of Concord, MA.

It looks great. Ive always like the convertible RC's. The price on them has gone up considerably.

Changed the alternator on my new to me plow truck. I have more work to do on it before the snow flies

Having the heads sent out for inspection, clean all the passages, general clean-up, Wyatt in Rockford is taking care of it
Using an LED bulb will give false readings on your tester. It will only be off or on with no scale of brightness as an incandescent bulb will show.
