What are your favorite brands for heater cores and blower motors? I'm going to want both soon.

That must be recent. They did the wiper motor on my 69 Charger and I had no issues. Sad to see that they ripped someone off. Definitely won’t be recommending them in the future.

I came close to sending her a wiper motor for "restoration". To give you an idea how long ago, Jules D'addio ended up doing it and he's been dead 10 years. Anyway, I asked the question about what was involved in her restoration and after a few back and forth messages, she admitted that she did nothing to repair or even make sure the motor worked and yet still charged the same prices as Jules did.

As stuff goes, her name and business has come up quite a bit. There seems to be a lot of excuses, lot's of personal problems etc. Bottom line is her business ethics are lacking, but she seems to be capable of doing enough business to stay open.

Fans and cores rarely ever go out.

Cores can be repaired, rebuilt even.

Something to note is on some Mopar applications like on the trucks is that the hoses on the firewall are not attached to the core but to "thru tubes" that go through the firewall, a genius invention that allows techs to brutally install new lines without compromising the core.

So because of this there is a short intermediate hose between the core and the firewall inside the heater box, and these are prone to leaking/blowing out on passenger's foot because the rubber is 50 years old and hard as a rock.

In all my years of Mopar ownership, only one core failure, 1970 Duster, coolant gushed out all over ex wifes feet.

Had it happen again on a plow run about 10 years ago, blew a core out all over the floor, but luckily it was a failed intermediate hose and the core was fine.

We're blessed with a super radiator shop here, an industrial one that does rads the size of garage doors.

AH HAH! I was NOT AWARE of little hoses between my firewall and the core itself. Given how we've yet to experience glycol fog in Gertrude, I can see possibilities for one or both of these short hoses getting a leak, ESPECIALLY since I recently REPLACED A HEATER HOSE. Hmmm, MUCH food for thought in your response. You may have just given the critical diagnosis. I reckon come Turkeyday, I might just do some Mopar Yoga instead of those front brakes. I can always do them Black Friday and into Saturday if needs be for some reason. BIG Thanks for this.

I already knew about U.S.Radiator, and very likely will use them to replace my excellent old 2524984 radiator. I'm now willing to bust out a grand to keep this motor cool properly come summer. I've been given an off the cuff estimate of $600 to recore the *4984, which I suspect is too little, given it was a year ago. If I were in a jam, I'd get another aluminum radiator from speedcooling.com, as he does a good job, but I'm a little leery of just any aluminum radiator after that Cold Case I touted became a Perforated Case after 2 yrs use, and that WITH bonding! I was told that their aluminum, and plenty more sino-aluminum products just have too many impurities, making for electrically active metal when wet. At least Watson provides a nice zinc anode for his products....

The Headlight Motor Man, Passion4Mopars, Stefan Fournier, and Dixie Restorations will rebuild any electric motor.

I would reuse an original heater core if it is in good condition and passes a pressure test. Spectra Premium is good, but you can’t beat a brass unit.

I plan on doing a Cu/brass core. Cold Case cured me of my love for aluminum radiators and such. Their **** worked well for 2 years, then dissolved. Not worth their asking price.

Bad operators often stay afloat in their own cesspools by treating a select minority of customers well, and robbing the majority.

Thanks big BIG BIG! IFF I need a new motor, I will very likely get this one. I like Murray products and am glad to see they still are in business. My first inclination will be to get a new bushing/bearing, as the thing is making noise, and probably turning at less than the intended rate. I can dress the motor shaft and restore a LOT of functionality just with that, but a new bearing or 2 may well be needed. Good cleaning and lubrication often does wonders enough for electric motors, as I found when 8 yrs old. I know the local industrial part shops for that stuff too. BUT, IFF something is too far gone, I'll probably get one of those Murray motors.

May have found The Leak this evening folks! Seems that stress slightly cracked one of the bronze teats coming through the firewall, so I slipped some slightly smaller braided hose through the teat a few inches, shoved back the old foam around it to allow my new heater hose to get IN past the sheetmetal a couple mm, then double hose clamped the heater hose once as near firewall as I could, and once to gently squeeze the heater hose around the braided hose sleeve I ran in to bypass that crack. This constricts coolant flow a little through the heater, but at least it works, and I smelled NO hot glycol after running Gertrude up to temperature and watching for moisture. I'll try to post a few pics I took tomorrow, but I gotta get horizontal for now.

Good News! For the Mopar Morris Family of Tucson this morning. The Dreaded "Heater Core Leak of TurkeyDay 2022" vanished under testing. Yestereve's cure for the small crack in the firewall nipple holds nicely, while yet permitting sufficient hot coolant flow to comfort my harem* in early morning chill.

Leak stains on firewall. I had poked back and tore out the rotten foam rubber around the nipple. Braided flexible waterline, 1/2" O.D..

Feed in ~ 6" of waterline to bypass the little crack. No more leak and the heater core gets plenty hot coolant still for its job. One of These Daze, I WILL need to remove the heater box, and do all the good **** we've discussed on this thread. For this, I heartily thank Ye Wise Moparians.

To think Some People criticize us for the Dread Crime of HOARDING! No doubt such ilk prefer that we turn in our fascistic steel internal combustion powered vehicles for electric scooters collectively owned by some Dept of Fru Fru Transports, controlled by Android Apps served on Google, and entrust vaporhead delivery drivers with our personal supply needs.

His stuff on Civil Disobedience gives an effective guide to passive aggression as political tool, and for this I respect HIM, and dig his having just enough furniture to suit his cranky self in the little cabin Ralphy subsidized for him, but I wouldn't hold him up as a paragon or epigone of "freedom" either. Yep! Kris Kristofferson WROTE better than he performed, for sure. I did NOT know that Kristofferson and Foster composed that for Roger Miller though. I like the Outlaw Country movement, such as it was. Kris had a LOT of GOOD company in that, Jennings, Nelson, CASH, Coe, Hank 2.0, et cetera... The call to Save Country resonates with me, though I'm an old rocker. THAT just got killed here.

Had Janis lived a little longer, I think she would have been BEST in Country, and maybe the Lord WOULD have bought her that Mercedes Benz!

Well! Then she at least "made amends!" Domine, miserere nobis. Gordon Lightfoot appealed more to Canadians and those near the Great White North. I like him, in measured doses. I guess Robert Zimmerman started the trend of talented WRITERS attempting to sing in the 60s and 70s. Now, to steal a Rolls Royce and drive into a swimming pool....
