What do you do for a living???

I'd say they aren't Vette people. It's a big $$ place with high initiation fees and dues.

They're beyond the Corvette level.

Wow, what an interesting diversity of jobs! But what's stuck, is 20 years here, 30 years there... Especially if this was only for one company!

My story of live in significantly shorter. I graduated from college. I made a vocational training as a chef, worked in a german/austrian restaurant for a while. But I didn't like payment and working hours so I decided to retrain and make my hobby to profession. I caught up my "high school degree" and made a second vocational training as a Media Designer. Now I'm working in an Advertising Agency and happy with it.

I can appreciate someone who learns one profession and then decides to walk away from it, and learn something totally different and be successful at it. Nice going.

Machinist/Tool Maker since 1985. Mostly medical products, Sixteen years. Currently working as a Mold Maker, building plastic injection molds. The company I work for builds Pace Maker Leads and related products.

They should put in a few of These fragile interior plastic parts, like the rear window and seat side covers in their offerings. ;)

Could convert an obsolete mold into something useful, but the problem would be getting it into a molding machine for production. They are so backed up, it would never happen.

I have noticed one common denominator.
No one here has said they belong to a Country Club...

I'm currently helping a friend build the first lawn tennis club in the Midwest, does that count?

No 19th hole at a tennis club but here's the bar.

I grew up on manual labor. My dad was subcontractor and had me on jobs by 14. I didn't like that, or school, so after I graduated high school a little late I worked a few really shitty jobs, I literally dug ditches for a couple weeks. Sick of manual labor, I joined the army. So lots more manual labor. 4 1/2 years later I was out of the army and a liberal arts major.... forgetting how much I hate traditional schooling. So I chose welding, as much an art as a science, with a minor in machine tool. So I'm currently an unemployed disabled veteran seeking employment as a welder/fabricator. Wish me luck...

Look at any house construction site now.
Not one skilled tradesman proud of their craft (Keyword: CRAFT).
All laborers now.

When I built my house, I wanted a stick built roof (rafters, joists, etc).
Builder said: Nope, trusses only. There are no Framers down here.

Only know how to frame a customer. :)

that's amazing... my buddies dad is a master carpenter but that right there is art
Unfortunately I can't take credit for the bar itself or the vertical piece behind it. They are both teak from Thailand and they are amazing. I'm not doing anything terribly creative there unfortunately, just trying to get the place ready to open for its members. Lots of framing and trim work mostly in the 100' long room where the bar is. 10 openings in that room that were originally supposed to be overhead doors ended up being custom sliding units that were built from scratch by us. It's a kool project but I'd rather be in my shop building furniture.
