It's depends on the kind of system you have.
It could be the switch if it's a variable speed system.

If it clicks 1, 2, 3 then it could still be the switch but also could be the motor.

The park mode is probably the motor park system not functioning correctly.

Others will chime in shortly I'm sure.

my switch does not have any clicks I guess you control the speed by turning the switch
You have the optional variable speed wiper motor.
As a process of elimination, clean all grounds and the bulkhead connector for the wiper motor. Also unplug the switch and clean connections there.
Is this a new problem that just happened?

no this car had the problem when i purchased it at least this gives me an idea where to start to try and solve the problem

Mine is the variable speed as well and the park option stopped a few years back suddenly. It tries to park but doesn't...

Please share what you find once the system is working again.

I strongly suspect the switch in this case.
If you have an ohm meter it should tell you if it's capable of working as the resistance will vary as you turn the switch back and forth.

if you have the service manual there is a test outlined for the wiper motor and park function.

I know that I do.
Will check it out at later date.
Right now I'm in Nova Scotia & my car is in Ontario...

Thanks for the information & links.

It's actually Skeeter66 that been asking & I happened to hop in on finding out what the cause can be too.
