Wollfen's 1970 Plymouth Sport Fury S23

Got a bit more done today, cut and air chiselled the old trunk floor out. then inspected the chassis rails, they are perfect! So all I did as clean them out and seal them with zinc chromate. The tops of the rails will be ground smooth then use weld through primer on there. After that I will start test fitting the new floor. Stay tuned.

Checked the front windscreen surround today while working on Bobs car and also sealing the roof of the house. So much to do around here lol. But anyway with the weather closing in I got cracking on what I could do before it started raining. Here are some pics showing the windscreen surround rust, but inside the cowl it is solid and good, so I wont need to replace that. Based on that I cut out the windscreen frame of the 73 NYB here which is almost rust free.

Your getting some mileage out of that parts car.

Brute Force and Ignorance (bit of a Rory Gallagher there reference - great track from his 1978 album "Photo Finish"):

I stand in awe and total amazement. . .

Okay today I ground off the old welds on top of the chassis rails and coated them with weld through primer. Then i started trimming and test fitting the new floor to go in. Note that it wont go in in one piece, it is too big with the outer quarter extensions still in place. I ended up cutting one side off down the length of the top of where one of the chassis rails are so I can weld directly to the top of it later. The pic shows the first test fit , I still have to trim up the edges and get a perfect fit before I start welding.

I was wondering how you would fit it without removing the tail panel. I actually folded mine, about where you cut, and unfolded as I welded.

Yeah I cut mine further inboard than you folded on account my panel is wider with the quarter extensions in place, you will note my cut lines up with the part of the panel that curves up toward the front which would have prevented me from folding it. But hey your way worked too.

Yesterday was a washout with bad weather, damned hurricanes. So today i got stuck into welding the trunk in again, this is turning out to be a long affair. I hope I can get it done tomorrow, two days of welding that thing is driving me batty.
